Subscriber nudge+ Posted February 28, 2020 Subscriber Share Posted February 28, 2020 A confidential private "settlement" Or in other words Ferrari were found cheating and got away with it. But I guess everyone knew it anyway.

Where does it say that F1 pays more money for Ferrari? Sounds more like Ferrari paid money to F1 to fuck off about the power unit.

I just presumed a settlement meant they were giving them even more

Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted March 4, 2020 Subscriber Share Posted March 4, 2020 The favouritism towards Ferrari, the legacy payments, the vetoes etc. needed to go a long, long time ago. It's actually mental when you think about it having a sport of 10-11 teams and having one team that gets legal, competitive advantages when they already have more money to throw at it than anyone else. And we think football is corrupt . Hope Netflix are rolling already for Drive to Survive 3 because this is the kind of story that can become huge very quickly. Subscriber nudge+ Posted March 5, 2020 Author Subscriber Share Posted March 5, 2020 So FIA are making themselves even more ridiculous. Latest statement: "The FIA has conducted detailed technical analysis on the Scuderia Ferrari Power Unit as it is entitled to do for any competitor in the FIA Formula One World Championship. The extensive and thorough investigations undertaken during the 2019 season raised suspicions that the Scuderia Ferrari PU could be considered as not operating within the limits of the FIA regulations at all times. The Scuderia Ferrari firmly opposed the suspicions and reiterated that its PU always operated in compliance with the regulations. The FIA was not fully satisfied but decided that further action would not necessarily result in a conclusive case due to the complexity of the matter and the material impossibility to provide the unequivocal evidence of a breach. To avoid the negative consequences that a long litigation would entail especially in light of the uncertainty of the outcome of such litigations and in the best interest of the Championship and of its stakeholders, the FIA, in compliance with Article 4 (ii) of its Judicial and Disciplinary Rules (JDR), decided to enter into an effective and dissuasive settlement agreement with Ferrari to terminate the proceedings. This type of agreement is a legal tool recognised as an essential component of any disciplinary system and is used by many public authorities and other sport federations in the handling of disputes. The confidentiality of the terms of the settlement agreement is provided for by Article 4 (vi) of the JDR. The FIA will take all necessary action to protect the sport and its role and reputation as regulator of the FIA Formula One World Championship." https://www.fia.com/news/fia-statement-following-communication-seven-formula-1-teams So they basically suspected that Ferrari were cheating, but weren't able to definitely prove that due to the complexity of the matter and didn't want to get into lengthy legal proceedings so just made a secret settlement with Ferrari (and they still refuse to share the details of it publicly). Just shows the sad state of the complexity of the regulations and the incompetence of FIA to manage their own mess. This comment kinda summarises it best:
