MUFC Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 A Max track. Can he start the season with a win? Can Charles get redemptiom?
Moderator Tommy Posted June 2, 2020 Moderator Posted June 2, 2020 Can Seb give them all the finger and win this? Forza Seb! Grazzie for nothing.
MUFC Posted June 15, 2020 Author Posted June 15, 2020 Ferrari might be bringing a new power unit to the opening race? https://www.planetf1.com/news/ferrari-set-to-debut-new-power-unit-in-austria/

Administrator Stan Posted July 1, 2020 Administrator Posted July 1, 2020 1 - Verstappen 2 - Hamilton 3 - Bottas 4 - Vettel 5 - Leclerc Maybe even Albon up there. Think Mercedes and RB will dominate.
nudge Posted July 1, 2020 Posted July 1, 2020 I'm quite eager to see how Racing Point does, and whether their pre-season performances were meaningful.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted July 1, 2020 Subscriber Posted July 1, 2020 One upside of the shutdown is that Ferrari have basically had a chance to rip up what looked like a dog of a car to some extent and take a new direction. Maybe we'll get a title battle after all. Red Bull will be depending on Honda to keep improving if they want a chance to take on Mercedes. I'm very keen to see the midfield at least get close enough to the top six to keep them honest. For too many years now it's been the case that even a first lap puncture or a broken front wing for a frontrunner would, at worst, see them only finish 6th and still half a lap ahead of the nearest McLaren or Renault or Force India, except for Monaco. The golden age of modern F1 in terms of variety for me was 2008-2009 where a messy race for the frontrunners would give midfield runners the chance to nick a podium if they could win the midfield battle, back when the gap between pole position and the bottom end of the midfield was less than a second. Nowadays you quite routinely get nearly a 1 second gap between pole and 6th. Austria has treated us well in recent years though and a chance of rain only makes things more interesting, should be a good weekend.

Not so sure about that, given that both engine and chassis factories were closed during the shutdown, meaning no real work on the car could be done. They had what, like five weeks to actually work on the car once the restrictions were lifted? That sounds like a great challenge, if they indeed had to overhaul their aero concept completely. The shutdown affected all teams, of course, but at least both Mercedes and Red Bull had their development plans set in motion well before the lockdown, and are both bringing huge aero upgrades that were planned anyway, with Honda even managing to provide a new engine spec to RB. Anyway, Friday's free practice will be huge in terms of data gathering for all teams, some of the parts are completely untested!

MUFC Posted July 1, 2020 Author Posted July 1, 2020 Hope it lashes it down. Wonder if Ferrari were sand-bagging pre-season testing? Hope they were and that they're quick on all circuits. As it's the opening race, I might watch qualifying while wearing suspenders and the actual race in leather bondage gear.
Eco Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 Nothing much to take from P1. Ocon has his aero just fly off, Romain had issues with his break pedal so that will be something to watch, but really there was not much to it. Fastest Lap was Hamilton, followed by Bottas and then Max.
MUFC Posted July 3, 2020 Author Posted July 3, 2020 Merc are usually OK in Austria during practise and qualy. Is race day where they tend to struggle here.
nudge Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 Oh dear, Mercedes domination already looks even worse than in previous years Ferrari and Red Bull absolutely nowhere, although Verstappen's long runs looked decent at least - will be interesting to see the full data of that. Racing Point might be challenging for podiums. Sauber and Haas absolutely horrible.
