What is the purpose of this game/cup?

it is different than a domestic super cup where the league winner plays the cup winner

On the European level, the champions league is well noted as being the top flight in continental club competition by:

1. winner of Europa qualifies for champions league 

2. lower place clubs in domestic league qualify for Europa League 

3. teams that get knocked out of champions league qualifying and playoffs get relegated to playing in the Europa League 

4. teams finishing 3rd in champions league get relegated to Europa League 

5 winner of champions league qualifying for FIFA club World Cup tournament  as Europe’s representatives 

If champions league is already identified as the champions of Europe, then why diminish this title with another cup?

Is the super cup just a cash grab? Cuz how much can they make in 1 game, that most Fans would Consider a friendly?

is there that much viewership to sustain this?  

its an extra game and travel for 2 clubs that already had a long season. 
FIFA has done away with the confederation cup, UEFA should probably do the same for the super cup.
