Got us back into Europe after the Souness shit show as well. Always liked Roeder. Seemed like a complete gentleman. Sad as well that we won't be in the stadium next game to pay the tribute to him he deserves.

He did the awards for our end of season awards night when I played football and was about ten as he was living in that village at the time (Christian Dailly moved in once Roeder left West Ham). He heard we were due to host a five a side tournament a few weeks later and offered to come back and give awards out. He ended up refereeing games and would talk to every team before and after a game about how they were doing. He was a lovely bloke.
