Been a long time since this track produced a decent race.

I hate this circuit, one of my least favourite on the calendar. That said, they've made some changes to make the racing better, so we'll see if it's an improvement. 7 corners have been modified apparently, with some of them widened and some camber added to a few others.

When does Vettel's contract expire? I saw some people speculating that perhaps missing these races with Covid will lead him to reflect upon how much he actually misses being a part of F1 for those two weekends, and it might lead him to realising he could live without it. Obviously, nobody can read his mind but it feels possible and the dog of a car that Aston Martin have produced this year hardly seems likely to make him feel more bright-eyed and bushy-tailed when he gets his first proper on-track action of the year.

I hope he sticks it out a bit longer. It feels like the sport still needs the experience and conscience of the older drivers, particularly Lewis and Seb, for a bit longer.

In other news, some updates are coming for this weekend. Mercedes are bringing an updated rear wing that they hope will reduce the drag down the straights. They believe that they do have a slight power unit deficit but that this is only 1-2 tenths per lap of the difference. The rest is aerodynamic and porpoising. They have a new floor coming over the next couple of rounds as well along with updates to reduce the weight of the car.

Red Bull are also bringing some upgrades for Australia that should reduce the weight of the car and Helmut Marko has claimed that this should gain them a couple of tenths per lap before factoring in their minor aerodynamic upgrades.

There are less leaks about any updates Ferrari are bringing but it doesn't mean it isn't happening. They already brought a different rear wing for Saudi Arabia to their Bahrain-spec wing.

Love to write and tell. But am sure you don't want to read a dissertation style post.

We're used to SirBalon for years. You won't even touch the sides when it compares...

3rd race, 3rd engine. Fucking hell.

Honestly, they should have probably thought it over with engine penalties this season. Moving to E10 fuels and adding some more standard supply components was always going to cause some issues.

On the other hand, the reliability (or lack thereof) is a nice throw back to the past, so I'm quite enjoying it xD

Hamilton's record under threat? He's managed to win a race every season so far. Even in them 2 years where McLaren went backwards he still bagged at least one win. He managed a win with Merc the year prior to them being dominant. Is that record under threat? He's won a race every season since he came into F1 in 6007.

We've had enough crazy races with unlikely winners in the last 2-3 years. And if there's someone who can pull off a win under unusual circumstances, it's definitely Lewis.

Not to mention that we're not even three races into the season, and Mercedes will solve their issues sooner or later.

Let's hope they don't solve them too much.
