ScoRoss
Without Griffiths or Dembele, they were forced to play Tom Rogic up front. Not the most ideal scenario for them. It's not a terrible result, not conceding an away goal is big for them.
Honey Honey
Griffiths is back for tonight's return leg. Unfortunately it is on the channel 'Premier Sports', never heard of it and sure I don't have it.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted August 2, 2017 Subscriber Share Posted August 2, 2017 Slavia Prague have beaten BATE Borisov on away goals despite losing 2-1 in Belarus this evening. APOEL Nicosia and Viitorul are about to go to Extra Time in Cyprus. CSKA Moscow are through, beating AEK 1-0 tonight, 3-0 on aggregate. Istanbul Basaksehir lead Club Brugge 2-0 on the night and 5-3 on aggregate. Adebayor on target tonight. FC Kobenhavn are in a spot of bother, leading 2-1 tonight but are 45 minutes away from being eliminated on away goals against FK Vardar Skopje of Macedonia. Most other games have only just kicked off: Viktoria Plzen 0-1 (2-3) FC FCSB Young Boys 1-0 (2-3) Dynamo Kyiv FH Hafnarfordur 0-0 (0-1) Maribor Ludogorets 1-0 (1-2) Hapoel Beer Sheva Ajax 0-1 (1-2) Nice Legia 0-0 (1-3) FC Astana Olympiakos 0-0 (3-1) Partizan Belgrade HNK Rijeka 0-0 (1-1) RB Salzburg Rosenborg 0-0 (0-0) Celtic Watching the Celtic game, scrappy start. Ajax and Nice is clearly the tie of the round and Nice's early goal there takes away Ajax's away goal advantage and puts them ahead on aggregate... Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted August 2, 2017 Subscriber Share Posted August 2, 2017 Forrest cracks one in for Celtic. They now lead with an away goal with twenty minutes left for Rosenborg to score two. FC Kobenhavn, APOEL, Young Boys, Istanbul Basaksehir and Steaua Bucharest have all confirmed their qualification with Dynamo Kiev and Club Brugge among those knocked out. Ajax lead Nice 2-1 now. Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted August 2, 2017 Subscriber Share Posted August 2, 2017 Celtic, HNK Rijeka, Olympiakos, FC Astana (of Kazakhstan) and Nice all go into the Champions League Play-Off round which will be drawn on Friday. Ajax are the unfortunate headline makers, going down to Nice on away goals after drawing 3-3 on aggregate. They will go into the Europa League Play-Off Round which is also drawn on Friday. They've covered all of Aberdeen's away matches for the last 3/4 years. So the subscription rates for July have spiked in Aberdeen recently. It was weird seeing pubs advertising they have Premier Sports, but it's the norm now. Don't know why BT Sport wouldn't want to have picked up the rights for these rounds. Can't cost that much and when you have big clubs like Celtic, Rangers and Everton in them, you'll pull in viewers.

How are they making it to the Europa League play off? They went out to Nice. Doesn't it mean that Nice if they go out in the play off game they make the group for The Europa League? It's almost impossible to exit Europe if you are a 'big' team in the Champions League.

Lose in the third qualifying round of the CL and you end up in the next round (Play Off Round) of EL qualifying. Lose in the Play Off Round of the CL and you end up in the next round (Group Stage) of the EL. Had to look it up here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017–18_UEFA_Champions_League_qualifying_phase_and_play-off_round Still stupid if you ask me. The worst part is getting knocked out of the CL Group Stage after six matches but STILL getting another chance in the Europa League if you finished third. True Blue
Yeah i guess it is a stupid rule, but who does Ajax play then? The teams that lose in the play off for the Europa League?

I don't mind this stage so much - they've earned their chance to play European football and the second chance Europa League for non CL qualifiers is fine imo - but it's when they drop into the knockouts from the CL that it's a problem
The Käiser
Refs did a bad job in Salzburg v Reijeka second leg. Salzburg scored but was called offside EVEN though a Rijeka defender slid past the goal line. How they missed that is a travesty. If it happened to a "big" it would be headline news. The goal would've let Salzburg progress. Guess that's how uefa gets around having two RB owned teams in the champions league
