Some interesting pictures showing the differences of the cars between Bahrain and China:

In order to get sufficient cooling for race at Bahrain almost all teams had to increase the size of hole at the rear, which has a negative effect on the aerodynamics(Coanda effect not as efficient).

Even Ferrari had open up the rear.

And they even added two intakes:

Only Mercedes were able keep the rear closed, despite having the strongest or 2nd strongest power unit.

Yeah, I've read that they opened the upper side of the engine cover for a chimney-like cooling, but only used it in free training and as you said, had no extra cooling modifications during the race.

It's fascinating to see all the engineering decisions and the differences in how teams solve certain issues, very interesting.

Yes, but once again poor strategy by Merc, they should have pitted Hamilton behind Verstappen...

YES PHIL.

But it's significant because you can tell the quality of the drivers when you see Verstappen nearly causing 2 incidents and Ricciardo sailing clean through.

Plus Hamilton should've pitted during the safety car. Not sure why they didn't and we may not be having this discussion if they did!

Yeah, so in the end, they DID misjudge the situation - as they didn't expect the Red Bulls to be so fast on fresh softs, they didn't expect overtakes, and they didn't expect tyre differences to be significant in general, either. So it's either a bad decision, or they are really into risk aversion this season, which I find hard to believe.

Kimi throwing the pole again, unbelievable... Insane first two sectors though.
That incident between both Toro Rosso cars was soooo dangerous, very lucky they didn't crash. Could have been really nasty.
Happy for Leclerc and Sauber for making it into Q2!

Should be an interesting race tomorrow, probably a few crashes and safety cars, really unsure what's going to happen, haha.
