I had the same with Paul Scholes when I was younger from my pub team manager.

It's not conditioning. The brain uses visual characteristics to make quick judgments when there is information overload.

The curious thing with this question is if you could make other one nation XIs within the Premier League.  I say this because of how many foreigners play in England's top division.  I wonder (for those with a tad more time on their hands) if someone could come up with other nationality XIs in the Premier League and how good they'd be if possible.

Butland

Walker

Jones

Cahill

Rose

Henderson

Dier

Lallana

Alli

Sterling/Rashford

Kane

4 star players for Tottenham

Two starters* for Man City

First choice centre backs for Manchester United and Chelsea

Two starters for Liverpool

And some promising young keepers Butland/Pickford.

That's England's best team right now imo - Europa League for me...but could easily click and do better. Lots of goals in that team.

That's a valid point. The team would be playing in the premier league,  playing English style football in a non cup competition. That means they'd be significantly more effective than what we're used to seeing in the major international comps.

But i do still see them lacking the creative lynchpin type player like Eriksen that pulls all the strings and makes the whole team better and that could hurt them when attacking against a low block.
