Danny 2,206 Posted January 8 Share Posted January 8 Bit of a random post but is there another manager out there that can match or maybe just falls behind Ancelotti for longevity at the top? Obviously he's never had the consistency that a Ferguson, Mourinho or Guardiola had in terms of dominating divisions, but there's a 19 year gap between his first Champions League title and his last. And it feels like that will increase again in the coming years, not to mention he holds the most wins as manager for the Champions League/European Cup. Considering how hard Ferguson found it to go up against Guardiola, considering how much Mourinho has dropped off since Guardiola changed the face of European and global football, Jurgen Klopp in there too, it's impressive how well Ancelotti has managed to keep pace with the evolutions of tactics and also player power and still managed to win major competitions over a 23 year managerial career. Well, in terms of time span between his first and last CL win there was one falling not too short, although he's aleady retired. Well, his CV speaks for itself to be honest. I'd agree myself. Like players, managers have their day and are no longer the same after a while(see Mourinho) but Ancelotti has been able to adapt to and keep up with the times.
