Guest
Ok, so not everyone's qualified yet, but if it were to start tomorrow the pots would look like this: I decided to start this thread now and that way we have it for the future to use and make mock draws and what not. We could see a group of Brazil, Spain, Italy and Japan Weakest would be Russia, Wales, Tunisia and Nigeria. I'm gonna ignore a ton of probabilities for Peru. For one, we haven't qualified yet. 2 is that there is still a possibility we finish in pot 1, although we'd probably have to win our last 2 games for it. Our best group would probably be Switzerland, Peru, USA and Saudi Arabia. Not sure how the probabilities work for having the 2 teams from the same continent though. I know for a fact there can be 2 Europeans in one though.

Guest
So far Russia Brazil Iran South Korea Belgium Japan Mexico Saudi Arabia I'll use this to update whenever someone qualifies. Who do you want to see in the world cup? Bias aside, I want to see Panama in Russia just for Tejada and Quintero.

Administrator Stan Posted November 16, 2017 Administrator Share Posted November 16, 2017 I'd say worst draw England can get is: Germany/Brazil England Egypt Nigeria/Serbia Probably end up with: Argentina England Iceland Japan Group of death: Brazil Spain Denmark Serbia/Japan
Guest
Keep in mind you can only have 2 countries from the same continent in one group if they are european. In that case Nigeria and Egypt can't be paired together. I'd like Peru to get one strong team from pot 1 and 2 minnows. That way we have a test but also a chance to progress. If there is one team I want to avoid, its Denmark. They are heavily underrated.
Administrator Stan Posted November 16, 2017 Administrator Share Posted November 16, 2017 Didn't realise that. In which case worse group would become Japan/South Korea instead of Nigeria or Serbia.

SirBalon
\ How Poland managed to manipulate the FIFA Rankings at Spain's expense Not that Poland knew it would be Spain who would fall victim to the final FIFA Rankings permitted before the World Cup draw in December would be made, but they made brilliant calculations using the flawed system in formulating a final amount of points that would see them maintain a place good enough to not be ousted and subsequently seeded in the World Cup in Russia. So how did Poland make the most out of a legal hole in the FIFA Rankings so as to maintain their position? Poland will for the first time in their history be a member of Pot 1 of the World Cup draw after ending 6th for the November FIFA Rankings. Coupled with a very good qualifying campaign, the rest of the strategy was designed in the Polish football federation offices. The PZPN (Polish football federation) took what seemed to be the odd decision not to play any international friendlies after November 2016 which was their last one of calculative importance against Slovakia which ended 1-1. That friendly was the last one they played after the European Championships in France where they achieved a quarter-final place. All of that permitted Poland to end the year in the top 6 within the FIFA Rankings and if they played no other friendlies with what was then a hypothetical good qualifying campaign, they would guarantee ending the time span till this November 2017 in those slots that permitted Poland to be a World Cup seed. But didn't Poland recently play two friendlies Uruguay and Mexico? Yes they did... Poland drew 0-0 against Uruguay and lost 0-1 against Mexico. But those friendly results cleverly didn't compute for the important final FIFA Rankings that counted for the seeding pot selections for this month. Those friendlies were played after the last rankings were released whereas the next ones will be on the 23rd of November which is only 1 week before the official World Cup draw and don't count as the final rankings due to legal FIFA administrative timespans. Had Poland played their allotment of friendlies when every other nation did during the international slots during the year they would apparently have ended below 15th. Brilliant from the PZPN... This is why the FIFA Rankings have to be thought out and why I've always maintained that friendlies shouldn't count for anyone for so many reasons and not just the FIFA Rankings. Yeah, its easier to gather points in our confederation given how high every other team is in the rankings. Most South Americans that qualify should expect pot 2 at least. Australia vs Peru would be a fun match. On a normal day, we'd win but Ange has a knack of doing excellently against better opposition (or better said, big games)

Guest
Personally I want France or Germany in pot 1. I think we'd lose to both but we need a proper test and then lose with honour. That's the way to market the individualism of our players in order to get the Peru "name" out to the football world. Then I want Egypt, Tunisia, Sweden or Costa Rica. 4 sides I think we could beat. If we avoid Costa Rica, Panama has to be the team to play against in pot 4. Teams to avoid Denmark Iran Senegal Morocco South Korea The rest I'd have some confidence in beating.
