England who beat Bosnia 3-0 at St James' Park a few days ago, will be hoping for a repeat performance and another win in their final warm-up match. Michael Posted June 7 Author Share Posted June 7 Ramsdale really shouldn't of gotten beaten at his near post for Iceland's goal. That will go down as a mistake by him. But Kane should have really equalised with that close range effort he had, after he got on the end of Palmer's delivery. Kane usually buries those chances. He’s better in open play when teams press, not got the passing ability to break midfields down and then we rely too much on Foden who don’t forget plays in front of Rodri and KdB for City. Fair enough it's a friendly and the manager was trying out tactics, but Southgate must have us performing to the levels we are capable of performing at the Euros. There is so much talent going forward in this England team, it's only the defence that's really a bit of an issue. Pickford also has to start, okay he is not an elite keeper, but he is still top class and very consistent for England. Ramsdale shouldn't start for us, he is more mistake prone as we saw again today. Anyone who understands football, will have seen yesterday the level that Iceland are at. They can play football and are no pushovers, they have several dangerous players. But yes, England should always be beating them still. But it was a friendly and friendlies don't really mean much, more a learning lesson more than anything else. I generally trust England under Southgate to navigate group stages. He's been largely flawless in them. It's beating anybody tricky that I never trust him with.
