Administrator Stan Posted January 20, 2018 Author Administrator Share Posted January 20, 2018 What a point for Girona at Atletico Madrid and for the away side to score so late on will feel like a defeat for Atletico. Sevilla cement their place for European qualification with a convincing win away at Espanyol. Likewise for Villarreal at home to Levante for an expected 3 points. Valencia have a great chance to go joint 2nd when they play Las Palmas. Anyone else going to watch?

Administrator Stan Posted January 20, 2018 Author Administrator Share Posted January 20, 2018 game turned on its head now! 5 mins in to the 2nd half and Paulista gives away a penalty for handball, berates the ref then gets a 2nd yellow!
Administrator Stan Posted January 20, 2018 Author Administrator Share Posted January 20, 2018 goes from bad to worse for Valenica. Ruben Vezo is cautioned for an elbow and consequently sent off as it was his 2nd booking. Very bad day at the office for Valencia. Get some great results against their top-table rivals and then lose at the side who are bottom of the league with some disappointing discipline along the way. Administrator Stan Posted January 21, 2018 Author Administrator Share Posted January 21, 2018 Real went to town in the 2nd half. after leading 2-1 at HT, they've scored 4 in the second half. Modric, Nacho and braces from Bale & Ronaldo complete the rout.
Administrator Stan Posted January 21, 2018 Author Administrator Share Posted January 21, 2018 omg, Ronaldo got kicked in the head (accidentally) as he scored his 2nd and as he's been taken off by the doctor, he's asked the doc for his phone so he can check in the camera how much damage there is

If you have had a head cut like that, it always looks so much worse than it really is. Real Madrid finally looked like themselves today.

Ha - Listen, I would probably have waited, but there is nothing really the doc can do until he gets stitches when he goes to the locker room. I was half expecting him to be taking a selfie and posting it on his social media accounts.

I wouldn't take much out of this result to be honest as Deportivo are absolutely poor. If it weren't for terrible finishing and hitting the wood work, Barcelona could have scored double figures against them the other week. They are awful and there won't be many games as easy as that in La Liga this season.

No argument there - However it's good to watch with the likes of Real and Barca play up to their level, despite their opponents.
Carnivore Chris
I think next weekend will give us an idea on whether Real are starting to find their form or not as they will take on Valencia away. Valencia's form has dropped recently, but they seem to always play better against the top teams than the bottom ones for some reason. As for tonight, big test for Barcelona as Real Betis away is never easy, even when they are in the second division and it's a cup tie. They have some quality players at the moment and their fans will no doubt be out in full in force making it extra tough.
Carnivore Chris
Sergi Roberto is starting in midfield today with Semedo at right back. Gomes also starts again, but for me it would make more sense to have played Paulinho. Umtiti is on the bench, which is brilliant news. Vermaelen has done a very good job since his absence but the defence is still a lot more solid and secure with Umtiti in it.

Carnivore Chris
That foot work by Messi was brilliant then, before laying it off to Paulinho in the box. I say that, then he does that, even better foot work.
Carnivore Chris
Betis made it tight for 50 minutes, but after that it was a dominant performance. The whole team stepped up in the second half, Messi and Suarez both with a brace each after Rakitic's opener. It was a fantastic second half from the team, Messi was excellent particularly in that second half and put on a show, even the home fans were in awe, despite their team losing. SirBalon
If it wasn’t for the fact Leo Messi is from another realm, another stratosphere, today Sergi Roberto would’ve been man of the match. Infact Sergi Roberto should be awarded man of the match because he was the best footballer out there today by a long shot. Messi doesn’t get awards anymore because they’ve worked out he’s an abuser and isn’t human which is why he doesn’t get the Ballon d’Or anymore these days. Those awards are only for mortals! Brilliant result at a ground which is always difficult to come away with three points.

Brilliant result at a ground which is always difficult to come away with three points. This is why Sergi should play there, with Semedo at right back, at every possible opportunity mate, it's where he excels the most. Paulinho would always be in over Andre Gomes though in that formation and set up. Rakitic had a cracking second half as well. You also wouldn't have noticed Umtiti had been away when he came on, although the Vermaelen injury didn't look good.

Yeah, Sergi Roberto is perfect in midfield to be honest and brings something some of the other midfielders don’t have which is this sudden change of speed to the team. Very technical and even though he isn’t the fastest player on the planet, he has got a lot of pace for a central midfielder which is why he can play at full-back. But with Coutinho soon to be introduced into the team Valverde will have a lot of players to rotate with. Remember Iniesta was missing today too due to injury... Rafinha has gone to Inter though.
