Daily reminder you hear lots of opinion about what Iraq war was really about, it was about oil, Israel fed the phony intelligence to weaken a rival, Bush believed he was on a holy war etc while all of them have some truth to them in the end Iraq was about revenge. Kissinger himself said that Afghanistan wasn't enough after 9/11 we needed something more to show that US is back. So Iraq happened to fulfill that revenge and bloodlust. When the bar to be a soldier is so low when it comes to intellect & empathy and is so high on being willing to kill people, you know you're going to attract the worst types of people. It's like police officers but with more power over people and easier to get away with horrific crimes. When a US soldier says they have PTSD, chances are that they earned it.
