nudge Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 A lot of drivers getting their times deleted in FP3 for exceeding track limits. A very nicely mixed field so far; Verstappen splitting the two Ferraris with just a tenths of a second behind Leclerc in P1, Vettel with the same gap just behind Max, Bottas a few tenths behind them in P4. Hamilton would have been there but got his time deleted. Biggest surprise so far is Magnussen, P5 and only 0,5s behind the leader We could be in for an epic weekend!
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted July 27, 2019 Subscriber Posted July 27, 2019 Disaster for Ferrari, Vettel back in the garage, engine cover off, 8 minutes left of qualifying with no time set.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted July 27, 2019 Subscriber Posted July 27, 2019 Mercedes with all sorts of problems here. Bottas aborted his first lap, Hamilton has had to go again after catching traffic on his first lap. Vettel out of the car. Will start last/from the pit lane. Massive chance here for some of the midfield teams to get in the top six. Hamilton goes 3rd now but still 0.6s off Leclerc.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted July 27, 2019 Subscriber Posted July 27, 2019 Norris, Albon and the two Williams out along with Vettel. Kubica only a tenth off Russell for once, but the team still 1.5 seconds slower than everyone else . Stroll finally makes it out of Q1.
nudge Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 Norris blocked Albon on his last flying lap. Kimi's phenomenal so far.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted July 27, 2019 Subscriber Posted July 27, 2019 Out in Q2: Giovinazzi, Magnussen, Ricciardo, Kvyat, Stroll. Hulkenberg is 0.033s faster than his team mate. Hulkenberg 8th, Ricciardo 13th. Alfa, Haas, McLaren, Racing Point and Renault all have one driver into Q3 to join Leclerc, Mercedes pair and Red Bull pair.
nudge Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 Technical issues also for Max hopefully nothing too serious but the engine didn't sound well at all... Kimi's having a great race weekend so far. Unbelievable how close it is in midfield. Ricciardo out but only 0.04s slower than his teammate in P8
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted July 27, 2019 Subscriber Posted July 27, 2019 Leclerc out of his Ferrari. WTF lads.
Moderator Tommy Posted July 27, 2019 Moderator Posted July 27, 2019 Seriously, Ferrari, what the fuck?
nudge Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 Ferrari manage to screw up even on those rare occasions where they have the advantage pathetic.

Seriously, they need to change something. A huge staff overhaul or something. They want to be the best, but they're the biggest clowns of the grid right now.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted July 27, 2019 Subscriber Posted July 27, 2019 Hamilton scores the open goal. Gasly was within a tenth of Max but had his lap time deleted. Bottas nowhere near Lewis, 3-4 tenths off consistently. Kimi with a brilliant 5th. As close to the top 4 as he is to 6th and below. Ferrari though what can you even say? Bottas and Max have just parked the wrong way round . Bring on the rain tomorrow please.

So two different problems, weird to lose both cars like that during the qualifying.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted July 27, 2019 Subscriber Posted July 27, 2019 Ferrari are still consistently designing the second best car, so the design departments for both chassis and engine are doing a good job, and yes they have amongst the best resources and most money so this should be the case anyway but at least they're actually delivering what they should be. Aside from that they just seem to have a broad range of niggly problems and it isn't clear where the fault really lies most of the time. This week its reliability so look at the manufacturing department or the mechanics at the track? Next week it'll be back to poor strategy decisions, after that it'll be incorrect simulation data or putting too much faith in a weather forecast or simple driver error. Going off the past few years you expect that Binotto has this year and next year and if he doesn't deliver a championship they'll try someone else. It's the worst thing they can do because someone needs to be left to comb through the entire organisation and ramp up the standards to where the likes of Mercedes would have them.

The way I see it, the core of Ferrari's issues is of organisational nature, especially at the upper management level. The overall strategy, trackside operations and decision making have been atrocious and that's what they need to address first, in my opinion. They have the resources and the people to build a good car, yet can't get it functioning properly - a typical Ferrari problem and has been for years.
MUFC Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 Max on quicker tires, he might take Lewis at the start.
