Chelsea could be forced into offering left-back Emerson Palmieri, 25, a long-term contract with former boss Maurizo Sarri interested in taking the Brazilian international to Juventus. (Express)

Felt he did well under Sarri, but again so poor under Lampard. Both of our left backs are set to leave, i'd keep Alonso over him at least this January as he is more versatile.

He'll probably go somewhere else and look absolutely quality. Chelsea are a weird club for fullbacks.

He probably divides opinion amongst Chelsea fans really. His worth perhaps went up a bit because a lot of Chelsea fans were getting pissed off with Alonso who rightfully found himself reduced more to a squad role rather than a regular starter towards the end of 2019. Emerson is maybe one of those cases where he was seen in a better light because Alonso was underperforming. He did suddenly come into the team towards the end of Sarri's season and did well, we saw someone with a bit of pace which was refreshing given Alonso's stature. Under Lampard, Emerson has been a bit up and down but probably more down, despite some good performances this season. He did get injured at a very bad time when we were playing well earlier this season and does seem to have his injury problems. I would like to see how he would do with a more consistent run in the team but part of the reason he hasn't had that has been his injury problems.
