Kotaro Matsushima is the joint-top try scorer at the 2019 World Cup with five from four matches

Rugby World Cup quarter-final: Japan v South Africa
Venue: Tokyo Stadium Date: Sunday 20 October Kick-off: 11:15 BST
Coverage: Live commentary on BBC Radio 5 Live and online with text updates on the BBC Sport website and app.

The World Cup was just over an hour old when Japan wing Kotaro Matsushima completed his hat-trick against Russia and immediately became a hero.

It was the first time a Japanese player had scored three tries in a World Cup match, earning him the nickname 'Ferrari' because of his dazzling speed.

After helping the hosts stun Ireland, things got even better for the 26-year-old. His late score gave Japan a bonus-point win against Samoa, and then came Matsushima's crowning moment in the dramatic win against Scotland.

He crossed for his side's opening try and ignited a glorious Japanese attack which helped the country reach the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time.

The match was the most-watched television programme of the year in Japan, with an audience which peaked at more than 60 million people.

Not a match with much appeal but hats off to both Japan and the springbocks, the springbocks closed shop and it worked and waited for the Japanese to tire then hit them late with the tries, Wales v Sth Africa now and Wales had better pull their fingers out after watching them toil against France because the Springbocks will be no pushovers.

The Boks played wisely and shut down the running rugby. That said. Number 13 sucked massive donkey dick. Trying a no look flick pass 25 meters from his own line, and Instead of playing an easy pass for a try he attempts to draw in the defender and do the one handed reverse flick, bombing a certain first half try

The winner of this surely lifts the cup and its going to be a good game.

Not really, rugby like football is a funny old game, the All Blacks could win this, Wales beat the Springbocks and then Wales beat the All Blacks and win the cup.

While I agree that its anyone's game till someone actually lifts the cup I also think both these teams have shown that they can take the opposition to task throughout the WC.
