There was actually an old Peruvian guy riding around on a bike with a speaker blasting out Cumbia music. Then when I went into Vondelpark, he was sat in there blasting music out, with other Latin Americans dancing, smoking weed, etc. I ended up chilling with them for a while having a spliff. @Mpache
Then as you walked further down there was some big Jamaican fella with his top off blasting out Reggae with a few of his pals
Then as I was sat on a bench in Saphire park(I think it's called that), some random German came and sat next to me on the bench(when there were 5 others free), put his speaker down and started blasting German hip hop while eating a tub of magic truffles.
There was a fella form Eindhoven who randomly came up to me with 50 euros in his hand telling me it had been a while(was it you @Gunnersauraus? ), asking me where the red-lights were. Then he pulled out a box of Viagra, telling me how he's "come prepared".
It's what I like about Amsterdam. It's just full of strange(but in a brilliant way) people who can all go out there and be themselves, whatever they are.
Amstelpark was also a change as I had never been there before, due to it being out of the way. I got the metro there and was surprised at the lack of tourists(in fact there weren't any I don't think?), it was all locals and you never smelt any weed at all(well until I turned up of course ), there is also a windmill there which was pretty class. Not to mention, I had a look around the lake and saw some fucking huge carp in the margins, which I could have caught easily with a stalking rod. It makes you wonder if you're allowed to fish it. But honestly, I'd take a 100 euro fine if you weren't and it meant catching one of those beauties! Speaking of fishing, I spoke to a local who was lure fishing and he said it's 4 quid for the year to fish all the canals and you get a little map showing you all the spots. I might have to indulge into some "urban fishing" out there. All you would need is a small rod and you could go lure fishing on the canals and then do a bit of stalking for the carp on the park lakes.
