  1. Lavia, Bazunu, Edozie, Aribo, Alcatraz, Sulemana, tall Paul, Mara. Basically a lot of potential but no experience or leaders.
  2. They spent over 150m euros the season they got relegated.
  3. Southampton were slightly the better team on the day and deserve the promotion. I'm not too concerned for Leeds United long term. They have several players out on loan and whoever they sell out of Meslier, Summerville, Gnonto and Rutter to balance books and create transfer funds. Unless they have a complete car crash of a window I anticipate they'll be fighting again for promotion next season.
  4. Watching it back I dont think the entire defence was to blame. Ampadu stepping out to try and win the ball created the gap. Armstrong did well to take that step back to make sure he was onside.
  5. I'd be extremely frustrated if I was a Burnley fan. They had several chances to make a managerial change and give themselves a much better chance of staying up in the shorter term. Instead they persisted with a style of football that suited the managers CV at the detriment of sending the club down. It feels like the only reason the board of directors and fan base were so patient with Kompany last season was because they thought he’d be there long term and would see the benefits of sticking with him longer term. Now whilst you can't begrudge him the Bayern Munich job, you can certainly say when youve missed out on nine figures that it leaves a sour taste.
  6. Smart play from Armstrong but defence switched off and duly punished. Its the type of goal that probably wouldn't happen if Wenger's new offside rule comes in as Defence lines will naturally be deeper.
  7. Goalkeepers: Dominik Livakovic (Fenerbahce), Nediljko Labrovic (Rijeka), Ivica Ivusic (Pafos). Defenders: Josip Stanisic (Bayer Leverkusen), Marin Pongracic (Lecce), Josko Gvardiol (Manchester City), Martin Erlic (Sassuolo), Borna Sosa (Ajax), Domagoj Vida (AEK Athens), Josip Juranovic (Union Berlin), Josip Sutalo (Ajax). Midfielders: Lovro Majer (Wolfsburg), Mateo Kovacic (Manchester City), Luka Modric (Real Madrid), Marcelo Brozovic (Al-Nassr), Nikola Vlasic (Torino), Mario Pasalic (Atalanta), Luka Ivanusec (Feyenoord), Luka Sucic (Salzburg), Martin Baturina (Dinamo Zagreb). Forwards: Ivan Perisic (Hajduk Split), Andrej Kramaric (Hoffenheim), Bruno Petkovic (Dinamo Zagreb), Marko Pjaca (Rijeka), Ante Budimir (Osasuna), Marco Pasalic (Rijeka).

  9. This is about 3rd or 4th hand by the time ive heard anything but it sounds like Newcastle have a budget in the 30m region and would have to sell to strengthen further. So he's decided to stay with the people he already has a working relationship with.
  10. I think he's in a world of pain if his appeal is rejected. A Lincoln City player got a five year ban for doing something similar in two FA Cup matches.
  11. I think Kompany's first season at Burnley is a better case to judge him on given he's entering a side that will overwhelm the majority of teams in the division when it comes to quality, but that is still some fall upwards. I sympathise with Burnley fans a little, they put up a poor fight because of the brand of football Kompany tried to exert. So for him to leave will still feel like a kick to the face even if it is an opportunity he cannot turn down.
  12. I imagine this is future proofing for Marc Guehi leaving. He has two years left on his current deal and hasnt signed a new contract. Albeit I do think clubs will pursue Jarrad Branthwaite first given that looks like an easier deal to make given Everton's financial position. The price I heard we will accept for Marc Guehi is steeper than I anticipated.
  13. This could be interesting given Leicester fans were vocally complaining about the style of football even when they were winning last season.
