The man who made gender role swapping a thing... from Marion to John overnight.. big tough guy attacks women.. must have felt good. Seems as though people being assaulted at awards ceremonies are a bit of a thing then..

In 1973, Marlon Brando rejected his Oscar for The Godfather to allow Sacheen Littlefeather to protest Hollywood’s portrayal of Native Americans.

I was just wondering the same thing... If these reports are accurate they were clearly designed to disrupt the process but if Abramovich is such a buddy to Putin as they claim you might have thought he would be given the heads up in advance, unless he was either deemed collateral damage or just in the wrong place at the wrong time.. Maybe Putin was not all that impressed with Abramovich taking part at all?? I have also been wondering how all this is going down with all these rich Russian Oligarchs who have suddenly found themselves subject to sanctions and asset freezes... they have gone from one cushy number and the freedom to do pretty much as they please to be being as popular as the black plague..

A huge 217-year-old flag captured from a French battleship by Admiral Lord Nelson. The ensign of Généreux, which is roughly the size of a tennis court, was taken by Nelson and his men in 1800 and is believed to be one of the earliest Tricolours in existence. "Why are you late back to port?" "We captured this flag and it took us 4 days to fold the fucking thing up that's why"

Paparazzi photographer Ron Galella wore a football helmet around actor Marlon Brando, after Brando once punched him, broke his jaw, and knocked out five teeth for constantly photographing him in 1973.

An offer from the Ricketts family to buy Chelsea has been ‘knocked back’ amid fan backlash though the club looks increasingly likely to end up in the hands of US investors, according to reports. A bid from Saudi Media Group has already been rejected, as has an offer from New York Jets owner Woody Johnson, though successful parties have yet to receive confirmation from Raine in a process that is becoming rather more drawn-out and messy than Chelsea would have wanted. But, according to the Financial Times, two bids are almost certain to make the final cut: an investor group led by Todd Boehly – who owns the Los Angeles Dodgers – and a consortium led by US billionaires Josh Harris and David Blitzer. That duo already own NBA team the Philadelphia 76ers and have a stake in Crystal Palace – which they would need to sell – while they have also recruited Sir Martin Broughton and Lord Sebastian Coe to be part of their bid. An offer from the Ricketts family – who own the Chicago Cubs baseball team – had initially been expected to make Raine’s shortlist, but FT suggest that may no longer be such a certainty following a backlash from supporters which has severely weakened their chances.

Ignore him, he is just being a wally.. We were a regular top 6 side in the 7 seasons prior to Abramovich turning up with his sack loads of cash... sometimes even finishing above Liverpool.... City on the other hand were bang average before the money..

I understand the period has been extended due to the complications of the sale... Would be nice if they could wrap it up soonish though just so we all know where we stand and the club can start planning for whatever the future holds good or bad...

That's why I would think we would go into decline under them... been reading a lot about them recently and it seems the initial interest appears to be there but the long term is not... that could only lead to decline or as you say a total lack of ambition...
-
I think those bidding have had a chance to improve their initial bids before it goes to the wire... If Abramovich does have the final say it will be interesting to see who he thinks should take over the club..
-
The problem is that despite their wealth their interest in anything they own seems to be sort term and the long term investment wouldn't be there... Now I don't mind that we don't spend millions and if we have to take a few steps back for a while then so be it that's not really the issue but if you want the team to remain competitive then ongoing interest and investment will be required or the club will go into a slow decline... It's a sad fact that the market prices for players including wages/transfer fees and agents fees are very costly so in the short term that investment might be there so that some fans might get duped into that feel good factor initially.. I would be more concerned that our youth team won't get the love it needs and if we are going to take a step back from big money signings then our youth team will be more important than ever but if that goes up the tits then not only will we have no power in the transfer market but we won't have any talented youth coming through the ranks... the side effect of that also means that of we can't hold on to them then the most talented among them will just vanish to other teams that could offer better terms and we will just fade as a force in football... I can take running under a different model that is less lavish with the cash but if the new owners have no real interest in the club then we will become like Newcastle under Mike Ashley..

I think I might have frightened Tommy a bit... -
In all seriousness we have no idea who could buy it... don't really care about the money side of it as long as whoever comes in is invested in the club for the long term so if we have to take a couple of steps back and reorganise a bit then so be it, It won't be the doom and gloom everyone will expect, Newcastle can take over the mantle for the next 20 years as the bumpkin billionaires..

Don't give me all that... You probably start off as a lover, then turn stalker, then hunter as you relentlessly pursue your prey day and night, no sleep needed as you cross all the worlds borders only to leave their cold corpses in a shallow unmarked grave for the wolves or bears to nibble on... -
What are you talking about??? I am one...

Recent bidder updates.... Global investment firm Centricus is funding another British bid to buy Chelsea, saying it wants to "maintain and support existing management". The Premier League club was put up for sale by Russian owner Roman Abramovich before he was sanctioned following his country's invasion of Ukraine. This latest bid, backed by Centricus - which has £29bn in assets - features several Chelsea season-ticket holders.
