Premier League 2023/24 Gameweek 31 - 2-4th April, 2024

We've got real issues with complacency lately imo. -
It hasn't been proven you haven't cheated though? You got off your last charges due to them being time barred - which has no bearing on City's guilt or not. No time bar on these 115 charges though and since we've seen clubs like Everton and Forest punished for less - looks like they're now changing the rules to your benefit. Because otherwise they'd have to deal with the fallout of one of the biggest football scandals of all time, and certainly the biggest in the UK - they don't want to go the way of Italy's Serie A with foreign viewership dropping way down in the wake of Calciopoli. So looks like you'll get a slap on the wrist so they can protect their bank balances. And I imagine as a result, they'll get a nice little extra from some random dodgy UAE companies as well.

I thought Everton were one of the rare clubs that had never been out of the top flight, for some reason. A quick google search tells me you're right and I'm wrong, but I guess I'd just never known that. It's mental though, isn't it, how they don't seem to particularly give a shit about the optics of what appears to be pretty brazen corruption? Instead they'll just try to shame people for noticing, though, and insist it's an affront to the league that we suggest what looks like blatant corruption may in fact be blatant corruption.

They're elected by the European parliament aren't they? I find Borrell's tweet particularly offensive considering Zahedi, one of the guys that died in the strikes, is very far from a diplomat and was actually involved pretty heavily in the suppression of the human rights movement in Iran over the last 2 years. Good people that just wanted to live normal lives with some of the things we take for granted in our normal lives are dead and experiencing the worst of what the notorious Evin prison has to offer because of him. And his coordination with Hamas means he's also pretty culpable for everything that's happened in Israel/Palestine since October 7th. It's not a bad thing he's dead and it's not a bad thing Israel killed him without killing innocent people - it's just a shame Israel can't be bothered to show the same kind of precision when bombing their neighbors or the people who are providing humanitarian aid to their neighbors.

So after years of Iranians begging the EU to recognise the IRGC as a terrorist organisation. And after Israel's attack on a building next to the Iranian embassy in Damascus - where no one that was actually a part of Iran's actual diplomatic mission there was harmed... and only IRGC scum died - here's what Josep Borrell has to say about it: In the last 2 years, I've developed a profound hatred for Josep Borrell and Ursula von der Leyen. I know the EU standing up for Ukraine is the right thing to do, and this puts Europe in a difficult spot because after being reliant on Russia for oil and natural gas... doing business with countries like Iran for their oil and natural gas is important. But at least be fucking honest and say the quiet part out loud: the EU doesn't think Iranian human rights are as important as keeping energy resources flowing into the EU. Don't pat yourselves on the back and pretend to be concerned about human rights abuses and then at the same time make statements like this.

For the starter, I don't know - but probably filet mignon & some form of potato for the main. I don't count them anymore. There was a while I was on a diet where I'd try to really limit the number of carbs I ate to a very low number - and it was effective at getting me to drop weight quickly in a month right before my wedding. But it was awful mentally and I genuinely did not feel healthy. I think if you want to watch your carb intake, you should just be mindful of how many carbs you're eating - but I'm not sure it's worth it to obsessively try to limit yourself to a daily number of carbs per day.

Xabi Alonso to stay at Bayer Leverkusen next season

Barca want Xavi to stay now lol -
The West needs to start putting conditions on the aid provided to Israel. Tbh they've been needing to do so for a while, standing by an allied nation while they repeatedly break international laws is honestly just being an accomplice.

https://x.com/muhammadshehad2/status/1775137325636317569?s=20 This is genuinely shameless & deserves a real response from the international community. The support of the west and having the right to defend themselves as a country doesn’t give them the right to murder aid workers to discourage other NGOs from providing aid.

I feel like if anything Mudryk would scare off other premier league sides from paying a steep asking price for a promising young Ukrainian. Mudryk has potential sure, but at 23... I'd say he looks some way off a lot of other younger players who have potential and do offer more consistency and quality. Look at Palmer at Chelsea, for example. Less than half the price of Mudyrk... and he's 1.) looking like he's got more potential than Mudryk, 2.) is performing at a much higher level than Mudryk. Not to say that Mudryk is a particularly bad player or anything - I just think he made a big step up and the prices Arsenal and Chelsea thought were reasonable now look like a massive overinflation in value; I think he's a player that sort of tells a cautionary tale to other clubs in England about spending over the odds on a player from that league and expecting the transition to be seemless. It's not so much that I can't see us spending that much on one player. I think we'll be in for very few players this summer, assuming we keep our big names, and chances are the players we bring in will be very expensive. It's just that at 21 years old and in a position where we've already got several promising young players, some of whom have made their debuts this season... it doesn't really make sense to pay anywhere near that amount for a player that's likely going to need a lot of time to adapt to the league. Harvey Elliott, for instance, is only 20 years old - so he's younger. He plays in the same sort of position and role. And he's already got a shitload of appearances for us and is developing nicely this season. Does it make sense to spend a lot of money, slow his development (and the development of other younger players like Carvalho, Koumas, etc) when we've got other areas of the squad to address? -
Probably the worst thing that's happened to the club in it's history, no?

That is an absolutely insane fee for someone who's only played in the Ukrainian league tbh. I have serious doubts about there being anything in this. It's not really a position where I'd say we've got a particularly big need to strengthen either. -
What? It's Trump seething that RFK is polling well amongst his base, rather than getting traditional democrat voters to just like him because he's a Kennedy. Then a pic of a meme face of a guy seething and crying behind a happy face emoji mask to reflect Trump's hilarious post.

Israel strikes IRGC run consulate in Syria. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-68708923 Dead sepahis are a good thing for Iranians - but considering the fact the Iranian embassy next door is completely untouched, while Israel pretty precisely took out that IRGC den... it really does demonstrate that Israel is more than capable of using precision strikes to target who they want to target. I don't think that's a good look considering the way they've gone about striking Gaza.

Brighton are dangerous on the counter though. They really weren't up to much in the second half when we played them just now, but in that first half they were a constant threat due to their counters. You're a good side, but I do think your biggest weakness is fragility at the back - so in that regard Brighton are a pretty dangerous side for you because they're good enough to create chaos in the back without having too much of the ball. Still winnable for you though, for sure. They've got their own fragility at the back as well. -

Yeah there’s still a ways to go and all 3 teams are capable of either going on a run or dropping points that will make or break their league hopes. We have a minor advantage right now, but there’s still a lot of football to be played. -

They’re looking the more useful side in attack though. Not really an exciting match but I think Arteta’s tactics have done a good job at keeping City quiet for the most part. -
I've done it without realising I've done it. Which I think means I've probably spent a good amount of money at the pub/bar, so it's probably not that bad of a thing to do.
