  1. Terrible. I can't expect this Jack prick would be in a job for much longer (if he works) or is allowed at Villa Park in future again...

Yeah you can expect to be criticised. I'm not arguing against that bit. I'm saying that he's allowed to have his own opinion on something a 'journalist' has said that has criticised him. It's not a one way street whether you want to maintain a good image or not.

So they're just meant to take a lot of shit without having their own opinion? Cool.

So you wrote about a league a player plays in, and he wrote back, and you see that as an 'attack'. What did you expect after writing 'strong opinions'? Did you not want a reaction after what you wrote? What are the reasons for him not being paid, financial problems at the club?
  6. Amitabh Bachchan and his son have tested positive for COVID.

    The Holiday Thread

Malta seems quite relaxed. Literally checking every day for any changes for our trip in Sept Expecting UK to be added to list of countries allowed to visit/not self-isolate on arrival from 15th July.

Think like most countries as of earlier this week there's no quarantine on arrival but there is testing and a form to fill for where you are going to stay. Not sure about regional. They have had a slight increase in cases when borders opened though, again as like most countries you'd imagine.
  9. Why can't he lift the trophy? Is he unable to walk?
  10. Saw this yesterday. 'Apparently' what he did was in line with the policing in that county. 'Apparently' he did it to tactfully search for weapons. Absolute bollocks on all counts. He's 'apparently' also stalked this woman for years and has a baby with her which he doesn't provide for. It's sickening even without all the baggage and history.
  11. That ex-player would have to be qualified, and you'd have to have a series of players to avoid bias in a match (like to avoid how weird it is that Carragher and Neville do Liverpool & Man Utd matches respectively on commentary). I mentioned in the other VAR thread about consequences for referees who make these mistakes. Are there any? Will they back on VAR this weekend? What lessons are learnt? For PGMOL to come out and say incorrect decisions were made is one thing, but I'd love to hear why they thought those decisions were made in the heat of the moment or just at the time of incident. What was the thought process of Graeme Scott agreeing with Moss that it was a penalty... I think the ex-player thing could work but it has to be paramount to avoid the same questions we're asking now - what's stopping a player making the same mistakes as a referee? It goes down to 'education' and training and 100% knowing the rules with as little subjective interpretation or ambiguity as possible. I do wonder how FIFA's ownership and control will change things. Obviously hopefully for the better. I stand by that having independent VAR officials in their hubs wherever they are is a step in the right direction. In the Everton Southampton game you have the same officials that screwed over Everton in a previous game (against Brighton). And they've cocked up again. You have Jon Moss doing his 3rd Utd game in 4 matches. That's almost unheard of to do so many in quick succession for the same club? If there are independent referees (either in games or in VAR hubs), it hopefully eradicates the 'I'll support my mate's decision here' angle. Maybe.
  12. Humans in liking to make things difficult for themselves shocker.
  13. No, no not directed at you! Seen loads of comments in general about it! That he gets too much praise just for delivering good news. But he's articulate compared to the waffling rhetoric so many others dish out. I don't for one second want to take any credit from Rashford how he managed himself and his campaign, but Labour did raise the whole thing as an issue way back in April (there's a letter to the Tories somewhere). The publicity it got from Rashford's campaign helped no end and of course we should all be grateful the right outcome occurred. Labour may have jumped on the back of that campaign when it was successful, but it's not something they were not aware of before the campaign went big. Regarding those face-masks, it's those who mightily support the Tories that would refuse to see what Khan does. Dare I say because of his name they just point-blank refuse to listen to anything he says anyway, even if they actually agree with it. I'm sure some ardent Tories want to wear face-masks and protect themselves on public transport, but they just don't want to admit Khan suggested it first and instead wait to give credit to someone they have an affinity to or support.
  14. Agree with that and said as such when the furlough scheme was announced. Those mightily against Tories did say at the time 'it's easy for him, he gets to deliver the good news all the time' but as you say, there's an art to doing it without looking like an absolute tit in the process. What intrigues me more is they had to be pushed and pushed in to feeding children (the whole free school meals being continued during holidays thing) but have been willing to spend billions more to give people an opportunity to dine out when many can't afford it as it is due to lost income (even with the discount).

Yeah me neither. The tournament - I never got further than 9th and I was quite proud of that . One of the organisers plays poker regularly (he was playing on PokerStars at the same time as the tournament with us) and he got knocked out first a few times. It gets very tense when there's about 4 or 5 left because there's still some big chunks of money. Sometimes when it gets down to last 2 it's a bit slow to finish - one person (if inexperienced) would be cautious and you're just waiting for chip leader to almost 'provoke' the other in to going all in.

I only stick with Texas Hold'Em. It's the only way I know and I can't be arsed learning anything more I played quite a lot during lockdown as some friends set up a table (up to 30 of us at one time, £10 entry then the pot split between top 3 at the end) on PPPoker. Decent app but can't compare it to others as not played on those. Has good options to play in various challenges, buy-ins or just 'Lobby' where you can go in and out of tables at your own will and not tied in to anything for money.
