  1. Story is that Sterling tried to get in his face a bit but Gomez just backed off when he realised Sterling was being serious. Again though, this is just what I've read from red top Twitter accounts so while I'm sure there's some truth to it I wouldn't take it as gospel.
  2. It obviously was sarcastic but nobody can prove it so he can't get punished for it.
  3. Apparently, Joe Gomez said hi to him in the team canteen and Sterling said something like 'are you still the big man' in reference to them squaring up at the end of Sunday's game. Read that from either the Mirror or Mail on Twitter so could be complete speculation that that's actually what was said.

    Tennis

Nadal has never won the year end championships, because he sucks indoors. Take nothing away from Zverev though.
  5. I could sympathise with your political views at times but what worries me is that you act like one of those people that exist on both sides who cares more about revelling in the other side "losing" than actually having a constructive debate. I get that it annoys you that nearly everyone on this forum disagrees with your stance on politics and Brexit, but it's not like people are ganging up on you individually. People like this exist on both sides of the debate. I don't personally believe this but for argument's sake, let's say both sides are as bad as each other. What benefit does it do the country if, whatever happens with Brexit, it ends up with one half(ish) of the population rubbing the other half(ish) of the population's noses in the eventual outcome that they didn't want? The worst thing about Brexit is how it has divided people. I can't see how anyone wants to encourage that. People on the Remain side generally blame the leading politicians who were found guilty of breaking the law during the referendum campaign and now appear to be covering up a report on Russian interference in that process for their own benefit, for misleading the public. The most prominent Remainers, again generally, go about the debate by posting facts and projections from usually reliable sources about the potential consequences of various versions of Brexit that have looked a possibility in the past few years. Unfortunately, the most vocal Leave supporters frequently seem more interested in "winning the argument". The quiet majority of you are probably just quietly grumbling that it should have been done by now and their vote hasn't been followed through so they're annoyed, and that's a justifiable position. These people are the ones who probably want to Leave because they genuinely think it's the best thing for the country. I'm not going to judge you as a person as we've never met, but going off your posts on the topic in this thread, you come across as if you actually enjoy the fact that Brexit is causing a lot of upset for the half of the country that don't actually want to see us come out. It's one thing to want to see what you believe is democracy being carried out but acting as if it's some funny thing to rub in people's faces this result that they have good reason to believe is potentially going to make their lives and the lives of their children and grandchildren significantly worse than it would be otherwise, doesn't make it come across as if you're trying to argue what's best for the country. For the sake of seeing things from both sides, which I always try to do, I'd love to be able to say that there are a significant amount of Remainers that I've come across who have the same vindictive attitude towards people who voted the opposite way, but that's simply not the case. There are some who will wrongly call Brexit voters idiots but I don't think I've met many or any who would actively go to their Leave voting mates and rub it in their faces that they "lost". People who don't want Brexit only desire the relief of it being cancelled, not to revel in the despair of the Leavers who would be disappointed with that happening. Throw in as many "most"s and "generally"s there as you like, the most important thing here is that I'm not stereotyping any groups of people, there are plenty of shades of grey on each side but that's my honest take on things.
  6. I don't know what the man and woman part has to do with it but I don't mind people asking who I vote for. I can see why people would prefer to keep it private in some circumstances though.
  7. If our electorate are stupid enough to allow themselves to be manipulated by the newspapers then they deserve what they get. It happened with Brexit, if it happens again with this extreme and corrupt Conservative government then we can just give up independent journalism and debate and let the country rot in its own shit for a few years before they finally realise they shouldn't believe everything they read. Too bad people will literally die in extreme cases and 'only' go without education, healthcare and jobs in many other cases. I found it astounding that I saw a poll the other day about who would you trust more with the NHS. Johnson and Corbyn were both on equally low scores. How enough people in this country have been brain-washed into thinking that Corbyn or indeed any Labour leader can be trusted as little on the NHS as Boris Johnson for that to be the case is terrifying on many levels, but sadly not surprising..
  8. Did anyone ever watch Britannia? Season 1 was on Sky maybe two years ago. It was weird but I watched it for the cast. Season 2 has just come out so I might give that a go.
  9. State of us now. If Johnson gets back in then we as a country forfeit any right to laugh at America, Russia or even North Korea again over their leadership and brainwashing.
  10. It's not hard to spot which media outlets back which party. Go into any shop the day after we get another incident like Rees-Mogg's Grenfell comments and see which papers have it on the front page.
  11. I can't get my head around this nickname. Most F1 champions do their fair share of steering and accelerating .
  12. I'm sorry but if we're genuinely considering dumping Silva for one of these dinosaurs it's nothing short of gross negligence. If Hughes becomes our manager with his record I'm actually done. The level of disrespect that shows to the fans who have been promised candyfloss rainbows and gum drop bicycles and been delivered fleas and rotten eggs these last few years would be outrageous. As to our fans who want Silva sacked because he hasn't kicked off enough over Gomes, Son, VAR and Richarlison the last couple of weeks, careful what you wish for.
  13. Proper helpful now lads but we shouldn't overlook what a momentous day this is, PGMOL admitting a mistake! Maybe there's hope for them after all (there isn't).
  14. Heavy flooding in Yorkshire. A woman has sadly died in Derby.
  15. Keane can have no complaints about getting dropped. Delph hasn't been pulling up any trees either and is in there simply by default along with Barkley.
  16. Eddie Irvine is a lesser-sighted version of Jacques Villeneuve to be fair.
  17. The BBC tend to err towards whoever's in power. Now that it's an election you can already notice a bit more neutrality in my opinion. Television media in general do a very poor job of holding people to account. Sky News have actually teamed up with a firm called Fact Check for this election which is interesting as they have people in the back of the studio fact checking things said by politicians mid-interview and feeding it back to the interviewer. BBC's election coverage on the website are doing something similar called Reality Check each day. Unsurprisingly, major figures from both Conservative and Labour parties have been caught out already.
  18. It's a weird one because we have our own 'parliament' of about 30 MHKs (members of the house of keys). Even I couldn't tell you whether we're part of the UK because it's such a grey area, but we don't vote in UK elections because we have our own parliament. Which is mental in itself because if we had one MP who represented us in the Commons we'd still be a relatively small constituency at 85000 people, yet we have 30 MHKs making up our own parliament. It's actually the longest serving government format anywhere in Europe or possibly the world. Sounds impressive for a little old place like the Isle of Man but actually when you consider that it basically means we haven't changed the way we do thing since the Vikings were here I don't know how proud we should be of that .
  19. It turns out I can register to vote from the Isle of Man, as I have a UK passport and was a permanent resident in the past 15 years. I was going to, but I would have to vote in my old constituency in Chorley, where the new speaker Mr Hoyle is the MP, and won by a majority of 7k-8k last time, so it turns out there's not much point. However, if there's any chance of another referendum then it would be wise for me to register again anyway.
  20. No doubt about that. Starting against the likes of Valencia and Ajax is a big step up from keeping clean sheets against the likes of Huddersfield, Fulham and Man Utd.
  21. I believe they're saying that with VAR, we have 12 points, without VAR we would have 11 points, one less (-1).
  22. It's not a 'real' bite. There's loads of reasons to make valid criticisms at us over the past couple of years which is why it confuses me and causes me to intervene when people talk about our defending under Marco Silva, and when people call Pickford overrated etc. Our defensive record was actually good over the course of last season and it annoys me in general when people (not necessarily you) clearly form their opinion based on ill-informed media narrative because they just believe what thickos like Merson make up on the spot on Soccer Saturday, when the facts tell a totally different story. It was poor for the first couple of months and has been poor so far this season but the huge expanse of time in between where we were one of the most solid sides in the league just gets ignored incorrectly. Therefore I step in and point this out when people allude to our defence being some sort of laughing stock which they quite often do. Anyway the point is that Zouma is a good player. But fans are like this all the time. Most of our fans were like "ugh he got relegated with Stoke last season why are we signing him". Just got to look a bit deeper sometimes.
  23. I don't see how that can be entirely accurate at all because the only VAR in our games this season (that I can remember anyway) have been Brighton being awarded a bullshit penalty which turned the game against us when we were leading, and the Spurs game at the weekend where we were denied two penalties that would usually be given these days in a match we drew. I'm assuming the -1 is them guessing that Spurs getting Son sent off somehow earned us the draw but that decision wasn't made by VAR anyway, so sorry, not having this table at all, at least from our perspective.
  24. Excuse me. We had the best defence in the league aside from Liverpool and City for the second half of last season, when we had a stable back four. Over the course of the whole season, only the top four conceded fewer goals than us, and we had the 4th most clean sheets in the season (14) behind Liverpool, City and Chelsea. I know all you hear about Everton is that Pickford is shite, Keane is shite, Mina is a flop, Zouma is erratic and a liability and Marco Silva can't organise a defence, but sometimes you should look at the actual facts. I know I'm biting over nothing, but lazy stereotypes that are conclusively contradicted by actual facts get my goat.
