Martinez would be a shocking appointment. Literally the last man in the world I'd be looking at to solve the problems of massive capitulations and poor game management in Champions League latter stages. Koeman is a bang average manager. Ruined Valencia for five years, had a couple of good seasons with Southampton, then had one decent season at Everton that was mainly down to us having the second best striker in the league that season that took us to a distant 7th which was the bear minimum for a reasonable season for us that year. He then proceeded to set us back about 4 years in the space of one transfer window with the help of Steve Walsh. I think he's probably well suited to Holland but getting a tune out of them for half a dozen competitive games is hardly enough to forget his ultimately dreadful Everton spell. He would be better than Martinez but if that's the best appointment a club of Barcelona's supposed stature can come up with then look forward to never seeing Messi win another European Cup.

Nah, Rafas in double figures for French Open titles. Great achievement but incredibly boring. I'd rather see a few slam wins from the next generation over Nadal and Federer and Djokovic rather than them just inheriting them by default when those elite guys retire.

Always liked Thiem but he's not winning any sets tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure they use it at the other clay tournaments, Madrid, Rome etc. They even have access to it. There was a call in a match I was watching last weekend and when the umpire makes a call based off the mark in the clay, the commentators often mention that Hawkeye can confirm that it was in/out.
-
Not really. Watched quite a bit of Tsitsipas against Wawrinka last weekend which was class but the French is the worst of the slams. Too predictable and it still annoys me that they dont use Hawkeye. I'll try and watch the final but if its Nadal and Djokovic we've all seen this movie enough times before. I've lost most of my interest in tennis over the past couple of years since Murray left the scene.

You reckon they've gone from 61/39 in favour of Leave to 71/29 for Remain? Not having that at all. Plenty of Leave votes there still going to Conservative and Labour. This isn't the European elections where it's basically all about Brexit.

I think we'd need a sensational transfer window. If we could do that then yeah I can see Arsenal, Chelsea and United being vulnerable. However I think it'll take at least until the start of 2020-21 before we can realistically have channelled all of the resources currently being wasted on Mirallas, Bolasie, Walcott, Schneiderlin, Sandro etc. into players who are worth that money before we can get serious about challenging any of them. The worst thing is that challenging the top six is hard enough, but also utterly meaningless. 5th or 6th are not much different from 7th other than the Europa spot being guaranteed/more likely and the fact you can say to transfer targets look we finished ahead of Arsenal last season. Getting to the top 4 is the real game changer, and scraping a 4th place for one season would still take a minor miracle for us even with Moshiri's resources. Becoming consistent top 4 challengers is essentially a pipe dream. I think the best we can be on a consistent basis is to establish ourselves as the last team in the top 7 rather than the first team outside the top 6 (and we haven't even done that yet) and take advantage of when the other big sides have bad seasons whenever we can, slowly build and chip away and see how far up we can get. More realistic is making a real push to end the trophy drought. I will lose my mind if we lose another non-televised 4th round game in the League Cup at home to Brighton or Middlesbrough because we rotated the squad.

Another scar from the Koeman/Walsh era is healed. Baby steps.

Narrow hold for Labour in the Peterborough by election. Brexit party very close in 2nd. If there is another general election any time soon it looks like we'll have a parliament hung like a horse.

The main pro-Brexiter in this thread is from the Midlands not the Norf, and anyone who loves pints is justified in doing so. I'm all for Brexit-bashing but let's stick to the facts eh?

Looks like Gomes should be ours now and at a very decent £25-30m. Sounds like we may sign Santiago Sosa from River Plate for around £12m. Hes only made four appearances for them or something so very unlikely to get a work permit. Don't know whether we'll abort the transfer as a result or sign him and loan him out for a while.

Not heard anything. Baines is also 12 years so they should have both had one last summer really. Suppose that's the sort of thing that gets lost with a relatively new owner and multiple managerial changes. We were absolutely terrible that day and didn't deserve anything. I remember laughing at this goal more than celebrating it because I was so fed up with our performance. Liverpool were not much better. Gareth Barry hit the side netting almost after this so we almost broke our long standing Anfield curse with what was our worst performance there in my memory (until Martinez and Koeman utterly embarrassed themselves there). I actually remember him more for the winning penalty in the 2009 FA Cup semi final. He's won player of the year twice for us too which is always impressive for a defender.

Jagielka's exit confirmed

Interesting choice. I remember him at Fulham but no idea what his experience is like as a coach.

Preach. I hope that GRRM's conclusion for Stannis is more satisfying than the whimper on his way out that we saw on HBO.

Robb was a superb character. Quote me tomorrow because I'm pissed right now but in both books and show his story and the war for Northern independence was one of the best elements of this series.

Forrest Gump - incredibly I've never seen this film in full until now. Did not live up to the hype. Might have been ground breaking when it was released but it really didn't grab me at all - 6/10.

Just started watching Mind Hunter on Netflix. Decent so far.

Sport Pesa are actually an African betting company. They are based in Kenya but they're from Africa, not Kenya. @Grizzly21. Some more ITK transfer stuff:

Bran being King is weird and not set up well at all, and some aspects were rushed, but I thought most of the resolutions were satisfying, Jon gets to go North, Sansa rules Winterfell, Arya gets to do whatever the fuck she likes, Tyrion is hand of the king, Sam is a maester (though he shouldn't be grand maester all of a sudden), Brienne and Podrick are knights, Dany died in the manner she was supposed to and the iron throne got melted after several people died trying to get or control it and keep it, from the Mad King to Viserys to Renly and Stannis to Tywin, all of the Tyrells, Littlefinger, Euron, Cersei and finally Daenerys.
-
I have my issues with the season but I don't know what else people want from the last episode. It's hardly going to be jam packed with action, this one is more about resolutions and that's what we got.

What we need to remember is that we aren't just dealing with Leave or Remain. Across the spectrum of Leave voters and MPs they are radically different views ranging from a very soft Brexit to a no deal Brexit. There are even Leave voters whose views are more aligned with Remainers than with the extreme hard Brexit Leave voters. We will end up with a reluctant compromise which doesn't please anyone.
