In before some hilarious Liverpool fan comes and jokes about how he's just got Evertons first derby win in years so why would they sack him. This is a ridiculous notion and nothing from inside the club suggests his job is under any threat. Only the media inventing links to sell papers and probably encourage some dodgy manipulation of betting odds on Sky Bet or something. The players are all behind him as you'll see from our last couple of performances and a lot of time, effort and money went into getting him here along with Marcel Brands. Unless we go on a horror run or get threatened with relegation he'll stay until at least next summer.

Loved it when I was a teenager but didn't enjoy the last few seasons. As a result I have a nostalgic love for it. I think if it was new to me now I would struggle to stick with it too though.

I voted Remain when I still lived in England. If there was a second referendum I wouldn't have a vote as I live on the Isle of Man now but I would still firmly vote to Remain if I could. It's not that I don't want us to Remain anymore, it's just that I'm so sick of fuckwits in the government and the electorate that I've given up on reason and just think we need the shit show of Brexit to teach the country a lesson. And that's absolutely not to say that I think everyone who voted to Leave are fuckwits as a lot of them had totally valid reasons which I respect, but there's a small, vocal cluster of fuckwits on both sides of the argument, and I've just had enough of the ones who cry-arse about "Project Fear" when it was the Leave campaign that went down the route of using things like threats of Turkish immigrants and terrorists entering the country which will suddenly somehow stop in an instant if we leave the EU. There are equally hypocritical people on the other side of the debate as well. These are the types of people who are so adamant about whichever side they voted for that it's become all about a personal sense of proving that they were right in the arguments down the pub rather than anything to do with immigration or economics or the country at all. They are the main ones that are still arguing about it because those of us who actually had reasonable arguments to make on either side are all argued out three years down the line. Honestly my top priority is for the whole thing to just fuck off now and the only way that happens is to just pull the plug and see if we sink or swim. I can't be arsed with another referendum and all of the incessant coverage and debate over it. Does anyone really think that another referendum will see the public vote based on factual evidence presented by both sides in a balanced debate this side? No. Both sides of another campaign would be comprised of poorly educated politicians in it for themselves trotting out what they think the poorly educated public want to hear to get them to vote for their team, and the poorly educated public will once again ignore anyone who tries to present a balanced, fact-based case for either or both sides in favour of whichever slogan or soundbite appeals to them the most.

A second referendum is a good get out but does set a dangerous precedent for all future votes of any sort of similar nature. Personally I think the best thing for the country could be to go ahead with a no deal Brexit and suffer like fuck for a few years. Right now we have a calamitous government who stumble from one failure to the next, an opposition party with a leader who did a decent job during the snap election but is in many ways unelectable as a prime minister, and a clueless electorate who are stupid enough to vote based on sentiment and which politicians they find the most charismatic than any logic or feasible reasoning. We're so far down this road now that we deserve what we get. Just have to hope some of the idiots learn something along the way and wise up a bit.

Another good episode tonight. The sneak peek for next week's episode looks really interesting as well. The only downside to the episode was at one point where there was a scene with Henry I just thought how perfect would it be if Carl was still in the show and carrying on this storyline like he does in the comics. It's still good with Henry but what might have been.

This thread Whoever tweeted that must either have known what they were getting or be absolutely braindead.

Watched the Brexit - Uncivil War with Cumberbatch on Sky last night. Supposed to be based on the real story behind the campaign. Obviously have to take it with a pinch of salt but a lot of it seems very believable.

Above average attempt compared to some on here, no doubt about that.

Thanks for pointing that out, hadn't quite spotted that myself. Learn something new every day, huh?

Chelsea remind me so much of us this season.

What's killed some of my enthusiasm for F1 in recent years is the gulf redeveloping between the top teams and the rest. I'd love to see it like 2007-2008 again where if one of the fastest four cars spun at the start or lost a front wing they'd have to fight just to get back into the points. Nowadays if Bottas loses half a lap with a puncture you know he'll be 6th again by the halfway point. I remember in 2008 especially that if you were a Williams or a Honda you'd struggle to get into Q2 most weeks like the Toro Rosso or Sauber drivers today, but with one wet race or safety car you could suddenly get 4th or 5th if you kept your head straight and drove well. DRS is part of the problem as it makes recovery drives much easier but even without DRS, at most tracks it would be pretty easy for a top three car to cruise past the entire midfield without much resistance. Hopefully this year the Renault, Force India, McLaren, Alfa Romeo, Haas league of cars is more like 0.7-0.8s slower than the top teams rather than almost 2 full seconds.

I have no idea but I'd be surprised if they didn't get that last scene in. The commonwealth is important in my opinion. Really moves things forward but it's hard to see which of the remaining lead cast would take Rick's role in that storyline.

I actually can't remember. I don't think they're referred to as Whisperers by the characters, but I think a couple of the comic covers say Fear the Whisperers or something on them.
-
Yes, I've read up to date, did so during the mid season break over December-January. Never really been into comics and it gets confusing here and there with the differences in which characters they kept in the show than the comics but yeah really enjoyed them. Interested to see where they go with this section on the series.
-
They've really pulled this out of the bog, at least for a while. The Whisperers have made it genuinely scary again.

Oh yeah. I think that bath scene wasn't in the books, nor was the scene where she puts the egg on the fire and picks it up and it doesn't burn her hands but it does burn her handmaidens hands. The Viserys thing is just a saying for the sake of foreshadowing the egg hatching scene, which I think also existed in the books. So yeah, Jon getting burned and Dany not getting burned in the bath I guess is just the inconsistency of the show version in this case. They might have changed it though so that Dany is immune to fire (I guess this is the case because there was also that scene more recently where she burned all the Khals and walked out of the fire to earn the loyalty of the Dothraki), maybe they will argue it's because she is pure Targaryen and Jon is only half. In the books at least it's been confirmed that she can be burned and that the dragon hatching was down to a different type of magic.
-
George RR Martin has said in the past that Targaryens actually can get burnt or hurt by fire, and that when Dany hatched her dragons she didn't survive burning because she was Targaryen, it was linked to the magic of the dragon hatching. Something along those lines anyway, I'm afraid it's been a while since I read up on this but the bottom line is that Jon getting burned on that occasion shouldn't be taken as evidence for or against his Targaryenness.

You got my hopes up there until I saw 'in Belgium'

Just saw this on reddit and came to post on here, beaten by a narrow 9 hour margin. I had to lol at this though.

Pienaar actually works for the club so fair play to him for speaking out. Saw some blokes post on reddit which nicely sums up my feelings too and I like to think most of our sensible fans: I'm 31. I've supported this team my whole life during which the majority of the time we barely had two pennies to rub together. Yet we always managed to field teams that cared, played for the shirt and each other. Even when we lost it was obvious the players had left everything out there and I was proud to say I was an Everton fan. I think most people on here would argue the current squad of players are technically better than the likes of Carsley, Gravesen, Hibbert, Ferguson, Cahill, Weir, Stubbs, Osman and Nevilles of yesteryear, but following those teams with their heart and commitment was a pleasure because it felt like everyone was working together. Everyone cared about advancing the club forward and we started playing some amazing football, without losing what we always had... hard work and commitment. I cannot remember the last time an Everton team walked off the pitch and it felt from the sidelines that the group of players got what the club is about. It seems over the last few years we've just thrown money at problems and hoped somehow, sometime it'll all come together and these on paper good players would turn into reality on the pitch. Things just seem so lazy now. The amount of money we have wasted on mediocre and often unproven players over the last few years is obscene and personally as a fan has taken my enjoyment away from following this club. Where's the smart scouting gone? Why can't we find bargain buys like Arteta, Jags, Baines, Coleman, Lescott, Stones, Pienaar, Cahill anymore? Anyone in the league probably aside from City and Liverpool can go to Millwall and lose. The pitch was awful, the weather terrible and the ref questionable. It's a difficult place to go... 5-10 years ago we may well have lost today too, but those players would have tried. They would have matched Millwall for effort and I would still be proud of the team and looking forward to giving Huddersfield a good go midweek. Now... now I watch a bunch of individuals hoof the ball around for a bit, pass the buck constantly and fail to show the hunger and desire that this great club deserves and wonder how the hell did that happen...

Nadal hasn't even been particularly poor here. Djokovic has had his number in every department. Crushing win from him.

No, Sandro had that one good season and was a no brainer signing at the time as he'd just had a double figures scoring season in Spain and was available on a £6m release clause. Apart from that season though he was rubbish for us every time he played, wanted to go back to Spain. Take out the 16 goal Malaga season and in his other 3 seasons or part seasons even in La Liga he has scored 0 goals and made 2 assists in 33 appearances (Not all starts). Schneiderlin was good for Southampton but for us he had one good half season then bang average. United fans report the exact same about his time at Old Trafford. Perhaps Southampton was his spiritual home or perhaps he's just one of those players who can't stay motivated after he's already earned the big move to United or the 120k contract at Everton.
