Once you learn it its very hard to unlearn it because you know how the connections work, etc. I tried it with CakeWalk and its wasn't ... too bad. Take that with a pinch of salt.

I still have it and its great becasue its so small you can take it anywhere. The only limiter is just that it was a pain to setup with a DAW so im glad i got the Maschine and I didn't need the fancy one with the solo components (although it is cool). The ableton one is nice too - Ableton Push 2

I can totally relate to this. I went into Logic and thought shit I can write a drumbeat but if you dont feel it then it really sounds very mechanical. But, all things said the Maschine does allow me to set the track and then get going. Then there are crazy folks like this.

Up first is my iPhone placed on top of amp top left corner with Bass up and mids down with treble down too. https://www.mediafire.com/file/zvt5ssqy0xulutt/U2_-_I_Still_Haven%27t_Found_What_I%27m_Looking_For_-_iPhone.m4a/file I'll post the mic sample once I get it all setup and I'll use the same song so you can see the isolation effect of the mic from the room. Oh and I wouldn't hear this all the way up the bass literally starts to get very heavy.

In my limited experience with using mics on cabs I'd say there is really one mic that stands out and that is the Shure SM57(or the SM57C), they are the same mic just with some add-ons. I have three of these and I use them for recording acoustic guitar. They have zero interference based on how much you raise the gain on the FocusRite and you can use three of them to record quite effectively. As for how many mics you want to use? The sky is literally the limit here haha. Just remember that you will need to be able to power all of them (phantom power option for condenser mics) so keep that in mind. I'd start with one mic (SM57) and see how it sounds. Don't use these mics for spatial recording (i.e. put it in the middle of the room and expect it to record well) they don't do this very well but if you mic the cabinet then you'll get some very clear sound with it. I'll try and do a demo with a bass guitar today and post it here.

My only suggestion on DAWs is this. Once you've spent more than a week with one do not try and jump ship haha. Stick with it and make it part of your workflow.

I think the room acoustics are interfering with your recording, it sounds right but all that free space is making it sound a bit washed out. As for the FocusRite and a mic, take your time as it will take some getting used to and whole new learning curves in settings levels for mic recordings, etc. But, its a fun journey and a few years ago I'd say it was hard but now YouTube has literally got everything you need to get started.
  11. Congrats once again @Viva la FCB and ty for running this @RandoEFC
  12. https://kotaku.com/riot-shuts-down-league-of-legends-fan-game-after-creato-1846782044 And this is my problem with RIOT as a company. I get that their IP is protected and they have every right to shut it down but that little exchange is just in poor taste. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a lot of folks ditch League and move to the real big dog DOTA now. They could have gone the WoW/Blizzard route but thats not going to happen now even if Blizzard is just as rotten as RIOT.

I tried using Cakewalk and it was such a pain to get the device registered correctly on it that I gave up haha. Then again who knows what I was doing wrong when I used it but I know a lot of folks who use it too and its free version is pretty good. I only started using Pro Tools because it felt like Logic but I have toyed with Ableton and while it gets its name from being more of an EDM DAW its very good for just recording stuff too and a lot of people on YT who I follow use it pretty religiously to create music. Let me know how it works out for you.

As a once-upon-a-time Amplitube user the only reason I stopped is because the little connector for the iPhone went from an audio-jack to a lightning connector and my iPhone got upgraded so I never really went back but I remember it being rather good with some decent if not negligible lag. As for PC DAWs, my person favorite right now its Pro Tools. Its like Logic but its got its own little quirks which you have to learn as you go along like setting channels, etc but if you're just recording to practice I think it will do just fine. The only problem? You have to register and you must be internet connected otherwise it just fails completely to even start. As for the one most folks are using right now? Ableton Live is the pop choice in music circles. Why? I have no idea but it does mean that you'll need something that's compatible. Shame about your FocusRite dying because I think thats a nice little piece of tech. I upgraded to an Audient EVO and while its superb in its own way I miss the FocusRite just because it felt really sturdy.

He said this is kind of unusual because it looks like it corroded from the inside out and then just snapped. I was glad it didnt fuck me up on stage but yeah its totally crazy. I wish I had recorded it because it looked very funny.

I looked at it and it seems like the inside of where the nuts sit has some corrosion which is normal apparently. Still, it was very funny when it happened.

Nine years later and countless things done to it, my Fender Squier Jazz had the most ridiculous accident today. The G string's tuner popped right out. Didn't crack, didn't click or do anything it just popped right out while it was sitting on the stand and split at the head of the tuner key. I was so zapped I literally looked at it wondering what the hell just happened. So, I figured nine years is a good time to say goodbye to the Clover config on the headstock and I can just get an upgrade from Gotoh or Hipshot. I affectionately call this thing my Mutt because a lot of things on it aren't stock Squier anymore anyways. So, I call my local luthier and ask him if he knows anyone who stocks what I want and then I get told Hipshot and Gotoh aren't available in the market. So, I think okay what about Fender? He says no. Then I say okay what about something more local to Asia, once again no. Then I ask the question I should really have started with which was do you have any bass tuners for a 70s Jazz bass? And the answer was no. Now, at this point I am a little deflated because truth be told I love this bass and I have literally done so much to it that I want to fix this tuner and get the strings back in order. So I ask him to call his sources from Mumbai who generally have something. Turns out they have bass head tuners for a JB but they want to sell it to me for 27K INR ~ 360 USD. I think that ludicrous of course because I can just buy another Squier and so then I figure fuck this I'll just get in touch directly with Hipshot and they say yes they'll get me a set for my JB which they certify as perfect fits. Good right? Nope. I can't even import them right now because we aren't allowed to. Long story short, a couple of tuners which generally cost around 180 USD from Hipshot and 110 USD from Fender aren't going for that price here clearly and now I have to figure out a way to get someone to get them for me while they try and head back home. Oh and I won't let this go because as I said before, I love this bass and I'll be damned if it doesn't get fixed someway or the other. I figure I'll put a High Mass bridge on it too while I am at it. It's nearly a proper Fender anyways and all that's left is to get a Fender Pup set for the original 70s tone but those are even more harder to source than tuning pegs here.
  21. I dont care much for its design aesthetics either but its still the king of connectivity and offers the best configuration across the board for games both on Steam or other platforms. With other devices you're always jostling with small issues here and there but with the XBX controller its just turn on and play.
  22. Without a shadow of a doubt the Microsoft XBox controller (the basic one) is the best PC joypad for Steam or anything else. East integration and works out of the box with no worries at all. The only downside is that the connecting device needs to have bluetooth but that's a standard with most laptops and even for PCs its a pretty cheap add-on dongle.
  23. You can connect a PS4 controller to Steam via a cable but if you want the best experience you need to the Playstation Dongle and it connects quite well. There are some button mapping issues in certain titles but nothing a little file tweak cant fix.
  24. That man is a machine only his mouth moves and he doesnt even blink that much. Scary as much as funny.
