Big game tomorrow away at Watford, will be a good opportunity to set a marker for the season. Our win against Nottingham Forest will hopefully boost us and set us in good stead mentally, plus we've had an extra days rest since then so there are some positives to draw from.

At some point soon we will be welcoming Christian Norgaard back and I hope it's tomorrow but really I doubt that and we'll probably have to wait a game or two longer. Christian is our best midfielder and very key to our defensive solidity, but he's also a very astute passer of the ball and can occupy attacking positions with relative ease. Him and Janelt in front of Jansson/Sorenson and Pinnock will be a defensive unit teams will struggle to break down, and will be hit on the counter a lot.

We could drop into the relegation zone if we don't win tonight and results elsewhere don't go our way. Southend are 24th so if we're not beating them, there's something wrong with us! I just hope the off-the-field nonsense doesn't have an effect.

Busy opening half.

Pinnock is wrongly sent off after the lino misses a clear offside in front of him that led to the red. Watford get a penalty from the red and score.

We go up the other end, Jensen belts a cross in and Kabelese jumps with his arms  in the air and gives away a handball and pen.

Toney cooly steps up and scores.

1-1

Finished 3-1. Holloway has a lot to answer for. We seemed the better team going in at half time but then in the second half we looked bereft. I really hope Holloway puts McKeown back in goal for the next match - he tried to prove a point that every place is up for grabs but putting our second-choice/goalkeeping coach between the sticks hasn't worked out.

Our fanbase would be in hysterics if we were bottom of the league and they saw that. I'd be fuming.

Every fan base should.

He's said this.

Saw this response/reply to him on Twitter xD

Last night's game was a strange one.

Opening 45 minutes was complete domination from us, controlled possession, controlled the tempo, controlled the game, hit the woodwork, headed the ball just wide from what was a fairly free header. Only criticism was that we didn't score or create more chances, hopefully that will come with time.  I did think however we were sloppy at times in front of goal and had the passing been a little bit crisper we could have been 2/3-0 up. Overall a good first half from us and probably the best 45 minutes of football we've played all season.

Second half Watford upped their tempo and our sloppiness peaked, eventually resulting in the red card that the refs took a while to agree on as they initially sent off Mads Bech Sorensen but then correctly sent off Ethan Pinnock, google both of their names and ask yourself how you confuse that one. They were fortunate to get the red imo as Sarr was offside but you're talking inches and so it's understandable as to why they may have missed it....but Sarr was literally in front of the lino. Anyway, they go 1-0 up and we immediately hit back by winning a penalty, Jensen on the edge of the box whips a cross in and Kabalese has his arms in the air and it's a penalty. Not sure how it wasn't a yellow tbh, such a blatant hand ball. Toney steps up, doesn't look at the ball once, eyes on the keeper and puts it away. Smooth as you like.

Watford end up bring on 3 forwards to finish the game off, we bring on a striker and attacking midfielder to snatch it. Watford have a goal disallowed which appeared to be onside, but the long ball switch of play to set the assist up was actually offside so the ref made the right decision even if he made it through the wrong one. At one point we hit Watford on the counter with a brilliant kick from Raya and Kabalese rugby tackles Toney to the ground for his first yellow of the game, which really should have been his second yellow after giving away the penalty.

In the end neither side could snatch a win and it ended 1-1, not the worst result at the end of 90 minutes but considering we had a man wrongly sent off and they got a penalty which they scored from out of that, we can feel hard done by.

What I will say is clearly we have not replaced Said Benrahma, we have however scored only one goal less this season than we did at this point last season. Goals aren't an issue, but the style of play has changed and we're much more focused on playing into Toney and off of Toney this season. Defensively for me we have more depth this season, Pinnock and Jansson are two of the best in the division, Charlie Goode has been a decent buy even if he's been out injured/struggled to get into the team. A big step up though by B Team product Mads Bech Sorenson who is starting to look the complete defender at this level, completely trust seeing him in the starting eleven now whereas last season anyone other than Ethan and Pontus made you a bit nervous. We've conceded 3 more goals this season than we did last season, but counter in how difficult this season is and how tiring it is to defend our defence has been class, and now we've got at least 3 centre backs capable of playing to the same standard.

A good season for the B Team boys as Sorenson is setting into the side well and Forss is one of our top goal scorers and has the best goals to minutes played ratio in the league.

Also we're unbeaten in 12, so positives still to be taken.

Fuck off you utter shithouses. Sanchez practically danced through us without any meaningful attempt at a tackle.

2-1 down now.

@Stan and @Dan. Did you know that despite being defensively shite, Benkovic hasn't played a single minute for us yet?

I didn't know he hadn't played any minutes at all.

Really odd as he barely got a look in for us either. Played on/off for Bristol City last season too.

Wonder if there's any issue there with attitude :what:
