Happy Blue Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Good time to play us with 7 players out, could be a tricky game for us and are struggling in some games without a striker Torres out till Jan De Bruyne needs another week or so Laporte suspended, back at the weekend Grealish close to returning ,could play some part, probably on the bench Foden same as Grealish Delap no return date yet Mendy same as above
Reluctant Striker Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 I think this 1 has the potential to be a good match. There is the Merseyside derby & the Newcastle - Norwich 6 pointer, but this 1 could perhaps be the neutrals match choice. With manager Gerrard & possibly Grealish as 2 intriguing features. I think it will be a really buzzing atmosphere. Villa's 2 wins will have eased tensions for fans & players. Obviously a 5 or 6 mauling off City could dent all that. But I do fancy it to be at least competitive.
Happy Blue Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 De Bruyne hasn't trained again but Grealish & Foden came back today. “Maybe they can play tomorrow, but maybe not a lot of minutes. The doctor will see tomorrow. “We are in a difficult position because a lot of players have played a lot of minutes. “We will see what happens tomorrow after today’s training. Both will be tested tomorrow to see if they can travel tomorrow to Birmingham.”
Happy Blue Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 2 keepers on the bench again and mostly kids ..Peps rested a few too, tonights team Ederson Cancelo - Ake - Dias - Zinc Bernardo - Fernandinho - Rodrigo Mahrez - Jesus - Sterling BENCH:- Carson, Steffen, Mcatee, Mbete, W-Esbrand, Lavia, Greelish, Foden, Palmer
Happy Blue Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 With the players missing, that's a great result 1-2FT
Machado Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 All 3 Portuguese players playing for Man City in the form of their lifes and two of them scoring great goals today. Jota having a great game too for Liverpool. You'd think we would have to actively try in order to not qualify for the world cup with these players, but somehow we probably won't.

Ronaldo an issue, like for Manchester United?

On paper, I think you've got one of the most talented national teams in the world. Would be weird if you didn't qualify.

You have some great players right now like England

One reason is that tactically we have to give up too much to accommodate him in a line up. Another reason is players looking for him too much. There might not be clear instructions from the manager that the final pass must go to him, but it always does, so his legendary status might be a problem for the players around him. They don't know how to "ignore" him and play their best football by themselves. Frustrating to watch. Doesn't help that the throws a fit if they don't give him the ball.
Reluctant Striker Posted December 1, 2021 Posted December 1, 2021 Well at least it wasn't a heavy defeat. Most worrying part is injuries perhaps to Targett & Bailey. Noticed loads of comments on Twitter critical of Villa fans booing Grealish. In my opinion, I don't go as far as booing. But those fans that do see signing for any 1 other than Villa as unthinkable. And the club getting back to where it once was is not a sad no hope pipe dream it likely seems to some casual observers. And the only people applauded back anywhere are invariably those who were shown the door, or went to Real, Barca, etc.
Administrator Stan Posted December 2, 2021 Author Administrator Posted December 2, 2021 And to think there was speculation that Silva was going in summer. He's been quality. Portugal's next golden generation?
