Obliged to leave New York City in the aftermath of his previous mission, David Trevellyan is summoned to the British Consulate in Chicago. To the same office where, just a week before, his new handler was attacked and shot by a Royal Navy Intelligence operative gone bad

Again, did not enjoy this one either, the same as his first book he seems to make the character a mini Jack Reacher but got it all wrong, hardly any action and it seemed like reading an Agatha Christie book and who done it.

Would upvote this if I could. Great book...

I'm about a third through and it's easily taken the top spot for most violent book I've ever read. Even more than The Road, which I thought would be hard to beat. Comeplling stuff though.

Suicide bombers are easy to spot. They give out all kinds of tell-tale signs. Mostly because they're nervous. By definition, they're all first-timers.

There are twelve things to look for: No one who has worked in law enforcement will ever forget them.

Absolutely agree, and the depiction of violence actually serves a purpose. I am due a re-read...

Finished The Glass Castle yesterday, finished the entire book in two sittings... What a fantastic read, definitely makes it into the list of my favourites.

I have a huge backlog of books I want to work through, it's tough to choose the next read sometimes 😅Chose this one this time:

After finishing 3 Body Problem on Netflix I've started listening to the audiobook on Audible. I've heard that it can be a challenging read to get into so wanted to test it out with a free trial before spending. It's funny how much detail exists in books compared to the series, the book is so much better and I'm barely past what would be the first episode in the series.

Anyway, bought the actual book today and looking forward to putting a dent in it. I think once I've finished reading the trilogy I'll give the Chinese tv series a go. I do like the Netflix series and I think they've done well, but I think they've released a greatest hits type show and would have been a lot more interested if it followed the book a lot more closely and went the Game of Thrones route of detailed dialogue and a lot of series.

The Chinese TV adaptation is VERY thorough and true to the book. I haven't watched the Netflix adaptation yet, but I suspect that it is more accessible to casual viewers, while the Chinese version is more hardcore.
