Big fan of mussels, shrimp, and shellfish in general.  My favorite dishes over the years were probably a blue fin tuna steak that was cooked medium rare with a white wine sauce and roasted tomatoes.  Also had some great Chilean sea bass.  Blackened mahi mahi sandwiches.  Fuck yes.

I'll eat lobster but I find the price hardly justifies the portion.  I had raw oysters once... it was meh.

Not a massive fan I’ll be honest, not really big on the fishy type taste.

Fish and Chips is a national dish here but it’s pretty bland/average tasting.

Had a “Mediterranean” style fish a while back which was nice though, cod roasted on top of vegetables and topped with breadcrumbs/cheese.

Also had fish on a skewer that was marinated in yogurt, turmeric, curry powder, lemon…some other stuff. But yeah, was delicious.

Basically I like fish when it doesn’t taste like fish and it’s flavoursome

Preparing seafood at home is a hassle for me.  I've never been able to do it well.  I find that it's a meal best prepared by others

On vacations at the beach we'll eat nothing but seafood.  In North Carolina last summer we had shrimp boils almost every day.  You call the fish market in the morning and place your order.  They go out and catch it and cook it and you pick it up in the evening after a day of sun and alcohol.  Good times.

Shrimp/prawns are my absolute favourite, too! I'll eat it in all variations and preparation styles, but I prefer the larger ones simply grilled, with some lemon, maybe some dipping sauce and garlic bread. And beer, of course. One of my absolute all time favourites is Tom Yum Goong, probably the most aromatic soup with all different flavours just exploding in your mouth with every spoonful 🤤 I had raw (well, actually cured in lime juice, chilli and garlic) shrimp salad/ceviche a few times too, and I think it's extremely tasty, but I avoid it these days due to the risk of parasites.

Same with fish; I eat most of it, but generally prefer red snapper, sea bass, flounder, rainbow trout, grouper, among others. Grilled, fried, steamed, smoked, marinated, salted, raw. I only don't particularly like battered and deep fried fish, it takes away all the proper flavours and most of the health benefits. I eat tuna steaks, but I'm not that much of a fan, and I don't particularly like swordfish. Salted/soused herring with onions is an absolute delight and one of the few thing I miss when in Asia. Same with fried fresh smelt.

Also love mussels, clams, scallops, etc. Once again, all kinds, all different ways of preparation, but I find it goes especially well simply steamed with garlic and white wine. Have only had oysters once a long time ago, but I'm very eager to try it again.

I do like the taste of lobster and crayfish, but I rarely eat it. I stopped ordering crab altogether, as while I think that crab meat is incredibly tasty, I also find it hard to justify killing them for such a low amount of meat.
I also refuse to eat any cephalopods. I have tried squid, cuttlefish and octopus in the past, but I don't particularly enjoyed the taste, and now I feel extremely bad about killing and eating such complex and intelligent creatures altogether.

I really like cooking shrimp at home, as I have several ways of preparing it just the way I like it... But I agree, ordering fresh shrimp and then getting it cooked the way you like it on holiday is one of the best things in life :D

Yeah, I'd say it's all about the freshness and the way it's prepared. I'm almost always living near the ocean, so whenever I eat fish, it's usually freshly caught. Can honestly say I've never had a fishy-tasting or smelling fish in the last decade or so.

I can remember when I was a young lad growing up in Tilbury docks, every Sunday morning a guy with a barrow would push it along the street, ringing a bell and yelling out "Fresh winkles...", my old man would go out and buy a load in a newspaper and we would wait for him to give us some, get a pin, remove the eye then dig the winkle out and eat it, I loved them days in the '50s growing up.

They were tasty as fuck, I miss them days as when we emigrated to Australia they had nothing like a winkle man then.

Oh I don't doubt it, just that picture looks a tad unappetizing xD

Mate, I’ve come a long way. As a kid and young adult I wouldn’t touch anything from the sea except battered fish from the local fish and chip shop haha. Now I eat raw fish. Give it time…

Good on you! Do you enjoy fish now? Have you tried anything else outside of fish and didn't like it, or do you just have a general aversion to it all? Texture, appearance?

No, come on xD I'm actually trying to understand. I know quite a few people who claim they don't like seafood, but as it turns out, they haven't actually ever tried anything else... So I'm assuming it's psychological aversion in a sense that you are grossed out by its appearance? Or is it something else?

Yea, the appearance and the thought. Like I can't imagine trying to eat octopus, or any sort of shellfish. 🤢

Octopus I kind of can understand, it's indeed a very wonky alien looking animal. But shellfish though... I mean there are many different kinds, forms and shapes. I know some people can't get past the idea of shrimps/prawns looking like sea worms haha. What about a crab or lobster though? If you were served a meal with shredded crab/lobster MEAT only, no shell or anything resembling their original shape, would you still refuse to try it? Or something like deshelled mussels in a pasta or something?

Maybe I'd try it, but I'd be skeptical. No deshelled mussels though. 🤢
