How did #91 lose the lead?

Both Porsche cars and Ford all pitted during the last safety car, and ever since then, #91 has been extremely off the pace and got overtaken by both Ford (amazing move by Olivier Pla in Eau Rouge) and Porsche #92, and now has just lost the podium to a Ferrari in the final lap too :( His tires are toast, right front side is completely gone, apparently.

FIA Formula 3 European Championship starts in about twenty minutes... First race weekend in Pau. Come on Mick! Best times in free practice, but unlucky to crash in the quali :( Hope for a good race for him though anyway.

@Tommy where is Sophia Floersch? Thought she's going to drive there too?

She can't bring up the money, apparently. But she could still join the series later on. Shame really :(

Oh and she's missing the start of the season because she's having her final Abitur exams.

A brilliant 24h race at Nürburgring as usual, and an amazing win in treacherous conditions for Manthey Racing Porsche #912 driven by Lietz, Pilet, Makowiecki and Tandy! :D It was a hard fight with the Black Falcon Mercedes AMG for the last hour and a half once the race was resumed, but Fred Mako pulled off a great overtake and managed to keep the lead until the end.

What a race, well worth staying awake for the most of the 24 hours :D

Massa joining Formula E

Former Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa has signed a three-year deal to race in Formula E from next season.

He will join Monaco-based Venturi, which is co-owned by actor Leonardo DiCaprio, from the 2018-19 season of the electric motor racing series.

Massa, who won 11 grands prix, quit F1 last season after 15 years in the sport with Sauber, Ferrari and Williams.

"I'll do everything I can to contribute to the project and hopefully I'll be among the front runners," said Massa.

The electric street-racing series is nearing the end of its fourth season, with season five set to begin later this year.

The 37-year-old Brazilian will take part in testing at the end of May before the new season starts.

Have you seen Rene Rast's crash yesterday in Race 1? :o that was awful.

Yup, saw that. Amazing how safe these cars are. And on a side note, damn, those on-board camera angles are awesome at DTM.

A MotoGP without Lorenzo isn't worth watching, arguably the best rider on the grid on a bike that just doesn't seem to work.

#99 :(

Thought you're done with the sport? :P

At any case,  don't worry, he's not quitting. He already confirmed that he'll ride for another two years,  and it looks like he might be going back to Yamaha, or rather Marc VDS now that they are switching to Yamaha...

I don't have any interest in dropping what I'm doing to watch a race whereas before it was a religion and part of my weekend. I'm still very interested in what's going on though and would be sad to see Lorenzo leave. I've heard on the grapevine that he may be off to Suzuki although maybe you know more about how true this could be?

It was speculated that he may replace Iannone at Suzuki, but now it seems that spot is going to Joan Mir... Today Lorenzo confirmed that he'll be riding for two more years and on a good bike, more details will be released at Barcelona. An interesting rumour is doing rounds about a Petronas-backed satellite Yamaha team for Lorenzo and Syahrin. We'll see...

I'm already hyped for Le Mans, this just makes it better. Absolutely love the Rothmans-inspired livery, and the Pink Pig (die Sau!) ist simply legendary :D now just need to win, would be perfect for the 70th anniversary of the marque.

Test day this weekend, and only two weeks to go until the race!!!

Yup, two could walk to the ambulance, and one was on a stretcher as far as I could see.

Yeah, they just said that the marshal suffered a serious leg injury, while the mechanics have moderate injuries... At least nobody's life is in danger, hope they all recover fast! Why is it so slippery in the pits anyway, have never seen anything like this before.

This is very sad :(

Teenage rider Andreas Perez has died following an accident during Sunday's fourth round of the Moto3 Junior World Championship at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Spain.

The 14-year-old, who rode for Reale Avintia Racing, was involved in a crash involving multiple riders on Turn Five.

After receiving treatment on the track, Perez was rushed to hospital by helicopter but died on Monday morning.

"Andreas has not been able to win this race," said a team statement.

"We have lost a great driver, but above all a great person and we will miss him very much."

Perez impressed in last year's European Talent Cup as he claimed two wins and further podium finishes.

He ended 2017 fourth in the rider standings before making the move to the Moto3 Junior World Championship.

"It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Andreas Perez Manresa," said MotoGP in a statement.

"The incident happened in the second race of the day for the Moto3 category, with the red flag shown immediately. The rider received medical attention at the side of the track before then being transferred to the hospital by helicopter.

"Despite the best efforts of the circuit medical staff and those at the hospital, Perez sadly succumbed to his injuries on the morning of 11 June."

Yes, heard it earlier today... There's been too many motorcycle deaths recently, first Dan Kneen and Adam Lyon in Isle of Man TT, and now this kid... This is horrible, so young :(

In better news, 24 Hours of Le Mans is back again this weekend!!!

To be fair the TT usually claims more than 2 lives and often they're the lives of local or visiting spectators not necessarily the participants. Not to suggest for a second that it is anything other than tragic but these young men know the risks they're taking when they get on bikes at that speed, especially at the TT which is possibly the most insane race in world motorsport.

Oh absolutely, that's also part of the appeal of motorsports in general. I mean the risks, not the deaths, of course. The thing is, everyone knows the risk, but almost everyone also underestimates it; and no one ever thinks it will happen to him/her... Still very sad, especially when it's a 14 year old kid...

And yeah, TT is absolutely mad, those guys are crazy!
