I like you mate, one of my favourite members on here but come on mate, you're not stupid. You know the crack. I mean we win every season so have a lot of prize money unlike other English clubs ..likewise mate ..City draw the troll meat in and i have been know to partake in the odd fishing trip from time to time lol
Honey Honey Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 Football, like life, is about the journey and not the destination. Man City aren't really in a journey anymore and so we see a tepid fanbase, as we also saw with Man Utd under Ferguson. It doesn't just apply to champions though. It applies to every position. The only way out of the rut is a spell of failure.
Moderator Tommy Posted May 22, 2023 Moderator Posted May 22, 2023 Why do you even need prize money if you are literally owned by a sugar daddy?
Subscriber Mel81x+ Posted May 26, 2023 Subscriber Posted May 26, 2023 Football is fundamentally broken. No amount of witch-hunts and court cases is going to set it back on the path to right without way more stringent rules on spending being enforced across the board. So you go and get City and charge them and win. Great. Now what? You've got so much financial doping going on everywhere because its a popular entertainment avenue that you can't just put the genie back in the bottle. It may seem stupid that there's a huge disparity between clubs with rich owners and ones that don't have them but the time to fix that issue has long passed. When the first signs of it started showing up the FAs of the world looked at it with their eyes in wonder "omg we're going to get so much money". Then the TV networks came along and realized what kind of cash cow they were about to inherit "omg so much more money". Then FIFA went and did its little song and dance and once again "omg we're about to get way more richer than we can ever dream". These systems don't care about your cities and the clubs that are an offset of them, all they see are gooses that lay eggs which are golden and expanding avenues for merchandise and services to be sold. What's probably even more amusing than the system of football is how clubs think they are going to get justice of any sort by going to the very people who want this to stay the way it is. We can all sit here and blame the clubs that went and did all this for spoiling the sport but the truth is that it stopped being a sport a long time ago and is now effectively a business that just happens to facilitate a form of sport.
Happy Blue Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 @Mel81xThis was a good watch on the current state of football
OrangeKhrush Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 football is broken when my team fails. to much serial loser mentality going around. money is not the solution as Chelsea, man United and spurs have shown. time to pay city and pep their dues and nut up.
Cicero Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 MadLad's financial doping argument still makes me laugh considering it was clubs like PSG and their financial doping that essentially played the domino effect for Barcelona to fund the Coutinho move which allowed Liverpool to bring in VVD, Fabinho, etc.
Honey Honey Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 I think it is incredible that Newcastle have been out of the Champions League for 20 years and in that time only 3 new English teams have managed to qualify. In 20 years! Only a US based style system can fix the revenue disparity that has killed the ability for someone else to have a go every now and then.
Ashley888 Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Why do you even need prize money if you are literally owned by a sugar daddy? - Tommy If we are going to spend millions on players we need that prize money - but obvs not as much as other teams. Bringing in new players also helps us gain more views for live football matches.
