Moderator Tommy Posted April 14, 2022 Moderator Share Posted April 14, 2022 One thing I've noticed is a lot of birds coming back that seemed to be gone in the last few years. Blackbirds and Sparrows especially. I love hearing Sparrows sing. One of my favourite sounds. Always reminds me of vacation. Like when you sit in a plaza somewhere in a southern country with a cold drink, and you can hear the sparrows everywhere. I love the sounds of birds singing first thing in the morning, wake up in bed with the light shining through your window early morning, it's like an alarm clock really and the birds are your alarm. I've mentioned this before, in Australia when we had our house in the bush, sit outside on our patio early morning and listen to the black field crickets chirping away, normally summertime with a few cans of lager and then fall asleep and get woken up with bloody Australian bush fly's attacking you. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Can't say I have, I think in Australia they are more common in the likes of NSW and the Northern Territory than in Victoria, our other Aussie mob guys in here might know better. The wife remembers the firefly when she was younger here in Scotland in the countryside, checking up the Lampyris Noctiluca is Britain’s only firefly. They look a lot cuter with the original ears, and somehow more threatening with them cut. Is that why people do it? Very stupid. Makes the dog look a bit like Batman though. Yeah it's mostly for "cosmetic" reasons to make them look meaner and more intimidating. I've heard reasoning that cropping ears helps avoid ear infections and docking tails similarly helps avoid painful tail injuries, but that just sounds nonsensical to me.
