Danny
I liked O'Neill's Villa side even if they were direct....be interesting to see how O'Neill does now the standard of football has been raised over the last decade or so and most teams can play out from the back, press from the front, play with speed and incision. But then again Cardiff went up last year so it's not a requirement.

O'Neill, who played 371 games for Forest and helped them win back-to-back European Cups in 10 years as a player, has signed an 18-month contract. Forest have not been a Premier League side since they were relegated in 1999. But the 66-year-old said his sole focus was to "rectify that". He added: "I don't think there is any other reason to be here. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46905796

Subscriber CaaC (John)+ Posted June 23, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted June 23, 2019 Roy Keane: Nottingham Forest assistant boss leaves Championship club Nottingham Forest assistant manager Roy Keane has left the Championship club. The 47-year-old former Forest player returned to the City Ground in January following the appointment of Martin O'Neill, with whom he worked at the Republic of Ireland. The ex-Manchester United midfielder described the experience of working with O'Neill as "one of my greatest in football, both as a player and coach". Forest finished ninth in the table in 2018-19. Keane had spells as manager of Sunderland and Ipswich Town before being part of the Republic of Ireland set-up when they reached the last 16 of the 2016 European Championship. As a player, he appeared in FA Cup and League Cup finals for Forest after joining from Irish club Cobh Ramblers in 1990. He later won seven Premier League titles, four FA Cups and a Champions League during more than a decade at Old Trafford. Nottingham Forest begins their Championship campaign at home to Slaven Bilic's West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, 3 August. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48737297

Subscriber CaaC (John)+ Posted June 28, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted June 28, 2019 What's going on here, Keane resigned a few days ago now O'Neill is sacked? (Couldn't find a Nott Forest thread?) Sabri Lamouchi: Nottingham Forest appoint Frenchman after sacking Martin O'Neill Nottingham Forest has sacked manager Martin O'Neill, replacing him with former France international Sabri Lamouchi as their new head coach. O'Neill, 67, won two European Cups with Forest as a player and returned to the Championship side as the boss in January. The Reds were four points off the play-offs when O'Neill took charge but they finished ninth, eight points adrift. Lamouchi, 47, has managed Ivory Coast and Rennes and becomes Forest's 13th full-time boss in eight years. Billy Davies, who had two spells in charge at the City Ground, was sacked for the first time on 12 June 2011. The latest Reds manager, Lamouchi, was capped 12 times by France in a playing career that saw him feature for Monaco, Parma, Inter Milan and Marseille. Forest has said that he will be "assisted by six new members of staff". MORE

Subscriber CaaC (John)+ Posted June 28, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted June 28, 2019 All these new owners are shite nowadays, they expect instant success if not then you are out the door and then the club goes in free-fall. This guy Sabri Lamousshi who is taking over from O'Neill has only managed the Ivory Coast, El Jaish and Rennes in which he was sacked, the only success he had was with El Jaish when they won the Quater Crown Prince Cup whatever that is, I am sure the owners of Forrest realized they were paying to much dosh for O'Neill and are cost-cutting and paying this Lamousshi less. They appointed him themselves back in January when they weren't doing too badly. I just find it bizarre that, yet again, a shambles of a situation has arisen and it's one that so many could've seen coming - how couldn't the owners? Subscriber CaaC (John)+ Posted October 27, 2019 Subscriber Share Posted October 27, 2019 Nottingham Forest gives 3,000 food parcels to homeless Nottingham Forest donated 3,000 food parcels to the homeless after a game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. The Saturday match against Reading FC had to be postponed because heavy rain had left the City Ground pitch unplayable. Instead of letting the pies, pastries and sandwiches go to waste, the club decided to give it to Framework, a homeless charity based in Nottingham. It is the second time it has happened. Fans praised the move, with one saying: "I love what this club has become - it's every bit as important as what happens on the pitch as far as I'm concerned." Another added: "Well done all at NFFC! A kind gesture that puts a bit of faith back into Human kindness." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-50199672
