Rui Faria to Leave Manchester United

Recommended Posts

Jose Mourinho's assistant manager Rui Faria will leave Manchester United at the end of the season.

Mourinho says Faria, who he has worked with for over 17 years, is now ready to manage a club himself.

"17 years and the kid is now a man," Mourinho told United's official website. "17 years in Leiria, Porto, London, Milan, Madrid, London again and Manchester.

Mourinho needs new ideas. It gets stale at management level with the same people, just look at Ferguson. Knox, Kidd, McLaren, Smith, Phelan, Quieroz all very different personality and style wise. It must have run it’s course after 15+ years. Wonder if it has anything to do with Carrick moving up?

Jose Mourinho has said he will not directly replace Rui Faria.

That’s us fucked then.

Sometimes you can't replace your long term assistant directly because they did so many things. Sort of like Rafa with Pako Ayestaran - Pako wasn't directly replaced, but I think his roles were spread out to multiple people.

But also Rafa wasn't the same with us without Pako... so you still might be right. But who knows, are any coaches from the SAF days still anywhere around the club? Or are we too far removed from his reign?

find it as no coincidence that Liverpool and Man Utd's assistant managers have both left at similar times.

They've definitely been having an affair and have decided to elope.

This makes too much sense to not be true.
