Administrator Stan Posted May 18, 2018 Administrator Share Posted May 18, 2018 https://sportslens.com/report-tottenham-hotspur-very-close-to-signing-riqui-puig/233144/ Quote According to reports from Spanish publication Diario Sport, Tottenham Hotspur are very close to signing Barcelona starlet Riqui Puig in the summer transfer window. The 18-year-old is a highly exciting talent emerging from La Masia, but it seems he is heading towards the Premier League instead. The report claims that the exciting central midfielder has not accepted the renewal offer from Barcelona, and he has plenty of offers on the table. He had a fantastic campaign with the Youth league, and after impressing for Barca B, he captured the attention of top teams across Europe. Spurs have shown the most interest in the player, and Mauricio Pochettino is simply in love with his game. The north London club have already started making contact, and have presented an attractive project before the player. Contacts are in advanced stage although the final decision has not been made. Barcelona understand that the player has plenty of offers and that they are not hopeful about him staying at the club beyond the summer. His future is expected to be decided in the next few weeks. @SirBalon what's the source - Diario Sport - like? Reputable? He's a well known youth player in Spain like many others even younger than him. Much is expected from him but if he does have to move then I hope it's to play. Carnivore Chris
He has a lot of talent and is a promising young prospect, but unfortunately it doesn't always work out for everyone and it's always difficult to say at this stage how it will end up when players are so young. I remeber when I once thought Gai Assulin was going to be the next big star, how he could reach Messi level(this was when Messi was quite young himself, so wasn't quite regarded as being an alltime great like now) and look how that turned out, or how Halilovic turned out, who for me looked ready for the first team just before his sale, where he has gone on to do little. At the same time, Barcelona lost some quality young players over the years and have made mistakes(which are going to be more prominent now under the current board), such as with Cesc and Pique, or Thiago, even though the latter was more ready made at the time of his sale than the others. For me the player Barcelona need to keep the most right now in terms of the young guns is Carles Alena as I see him as being the most ready. He is ready and should be in the squad ahead of players like Gomes and Paulinho, who are woeful if we are being honest.

SirBalon
Barça have announced that Riqui Puig will be staying at Barcelona after the petition of the whole technical team. He will also be getting a new contract to defend the club from more tapping.
Dr. Gonzo
Aw I don't like Spurs, but I'm gutted they didn't nick him just because it would have pissed off Barca.
SirBalon
Riqui Puig has renewed his contract to keep him at Barcelona until June 30, 2021. The deal was signed on Monday morning to keep the young player, who was wanted by various clubs, at the Camp Nou. Puig is one of the most highly rated players in Barça's academy. His new three-year deal also has the option for an additional two years as well, while his release clause has risen to 100 million Euros. The deal was signed alongside Barça president Josep Maria Bartomeu, who was satisified to reach an agreement with the teenager. Puig was a key part of the U19s team success in the UEFA Youth League this past season and also made his debut for the Barça B team, making three appearances in total. Ernesto Valverde has also called him up to train with the first team on several occasions, something which will surely be repeated throughout the course of next season.
