This made me laugh... 6 games unbeaten, we've been utter shite!

I just checked, 5 draws 1 win. We're the Belorussian Manchester United

Think I've got a real defender on my hands. If I can get his marking up to 15 and tackling up to 14, think he'd be great to keep for the long term. Shame his release clause is 155k.

Excellent ball playing CB for this level. Now if I can get him beyond that.

Here are my signings for the season

All the signings Kelvin Sanchez and below are this season, everyone above I signed last year.

Kelvin Sanchez was better than I expected on this. I'm probably going to convert him to a LB but I'm going to have him mostly in the reserves this season and let him develop. I've got my foreign spots all filled up for the coming season and I'm going to try and put him in for the next year.

Petrov was a gamble, it backfired. Don't see much in him.

Myakish looks like he can become a talent. It will be a matter of time though.

Shvetsov is very limited but defensively he could become a wall. Hopefully he works as a future long term CB to have.

Computer became damn slow that I had to restart my computer without saving. Hopefully it's nothing to critical like resigning these :(

It appears I was right, went back to January 3rd. Thankfully I had my signings all made but I made a few after that which I'm going to have to sign again :(

Also have to redo my training. Overall though I'm quite motivated to play this save. After I found out that gaining Belorussian citizenship takes 3 years, I quite want to play this.

PS. I don't want to ruin the party for anyone that liked it, but this forum is quite dead and I found it to be better and more of a debate as a single thread. Perhaps time to revert back?

Nope. It's only dead because we're waiting for the new edition to come out in a few weeks time.

There'll be plenty of activity from next month onwards. Guaranteed.

Ah fair enough.

I'll be on 17 for a good time yet, so you can enjoy some content from me. Will really depend on my mood to write.

For the first time in years I won't be able to buy it straight away. I'm spending too much with my trip to NZ and work for my website. So I don't mind this long term Belarus save :D

We're fucking wank. I just lost 3-0 to Szcvezda some really eastern european name. Did I mention they are nobodies?

Can't get my tactics right. Savitskiy is so slow on the wing so I rather use him as a 9. Right now I'm using a 4-5-1 which is always pragmatic but works to not concede many.

Savarino always getting injured doesn't help my case. Gomez is silly inconsistent.

Posted

The 4-5-1 is my kryptonite. I can't break any opposition with that formation down.

I've reverted to a 4-4-2. Structured and solid defensively but with 2 forwards that are capable of scoring and some dynamic players on the wings. Sticking to standard to decide what mentality to switch to mid game.

Karnitskiy has had an awful start to the season but ever since I've implemented this 4-4-2, he's been much better. 3 goals in the last 5 ain't too bad for a 17 year old. Jefferson Gomez has also turned it up. Him and Vasilevsky is a solid central defending partnership.

Got sacked from Zhodino so I took over the Yenisey job right at the start of the new Russian season. I won my first game at home vs Amkar, effectiveness over nice play this time.

You always seem to end up back with Nantes xD Isn't this your third spell there over the years?

It's a shame that Fylde didn't work out but I can understand completely where you're coming from with the players. I usually end up with a non-league game on the go during Football Manager and I always bin it off after a few months just because of how gash everything is. Some of the games are literally defined by luck as you can have a goalkeeper throw a few goals into his own net or have a striker that literally can't hit a barn door.

I've pretty much decided that I'm going to start FM18 with Everton as I haven't used them since 15 and have something to prove given that we were always getting relegated by the game engine on 17. I'm also interested in doing saves with Real Oviedo and Union Berlin but I'm unsure which of these two will come to light, hopefully both.

I reckon it's more than that. If I'm not mistaken I've been them on 13, 14, 15 and now 17 too. As a save it just ticks the right boxes for me. I like managing them and it's hard to explain why. Probably the mix of a decent ground (potential), a proper battle rivalry (Stade Rennais), a really good academy and a league where it is possible to climb the ladder and build something.

I lost the final, painfully predictably. Threw away a lead twice, once in normal time and once in extra time, and lost it on penalties. My record in big games on FM17 is the worst out of anyone you'll know, I just cannot win them in any circumstance and I can't put my finger on if it's because I don't focus enough on a player's mentality, if I subconsciously skew my decision making because it's a big game or if I'm just really unlucky. It's possibly a mix of all three.

Second year is going well though. The rivalry has been heated up somewhat as I've taken Rennais' keeper Benoit Costil on a free and they've gone and been bought out by some Danish billionaire, irritatingly, They beat me again but they're having a shocking season given what they've spent after a strong start. I find the behaviour of tycoon clubs intriguing, they always buy OK-good players and pay them stupid money. I've never had one and I'm convinced if I had one at Nantes I'd have them dominating fairly quickly with clever investment.

I'm 6th in the table and I would be happy to come here. I came 9th last year after being predicted 13th and I'm only predicted 11th this year so it would be an over-achievement. Marseille started terribly again (it is a complete miracle Rudi Garcia has held onto his job) but are coming back up so I've got to watch out for them, but it's Toulouse who are the shock league leaders, although they're stuttering and PSG/Lyon are on their case. Fully expect PSG to win the league again now.

The most exciting thing for me is this youngster I had come through my academy. Already rejected a bid totalling £9mil from Real Madrid for him. He's got the potential to be a world class player, I would go that far.

What annoys me the most about FM is that I can't control it the same way I can Fifa. If I'm doing shit on Fifa and work out why, where I'm being shit from, identify the sort of player I need, adjust my tactics and style of play. With FM I have no idea really how to do any of that, you can think you've got a good understanding, go out and beat Leicester 7-1 as Man Utd and then get thrashed 4-1 by Spurs.

I've been cleaning up my PC in preparation for FM18 and came across my play-times for all the games that I've owned since 2013. Out of interest, what's everyone's total playtime with one of these games? My record is 17 (which I didn't think it would be) with a whopping 649 hours xD works out as just shy of a month continuously playing the game.

this makes me seem so sad but I would literally have it on in the background whenever I was doing anything, either working, watching football, watching pornhub etc...

FM in work is like having sex in public. You know you shouldn't be doing it but it feels electrifying.

I always remember when I was sat next to a colleague working on a ''Financial Report in Excel'' when I jumped 20 feet into the air after Mauro Icardi scored a 94th minute winner xD Luckily we were mates and the incident remained between us xD

the pleasures of working from home :D

That's also my excuse.

I mean, fucking hell. That's a quarter of the fucking year xD

It's true though. For all I'm on it a lot, I often have it open without actually being on it and I'm also one of these who leaves my laptop on.

Got sacked by Everton, got told to get 11 points from 15, The of those games against both Manchester clubs. Only a bit unrealistic.

But I started using defensive full backs instead of on support and that did pick up results so I'm gunna give it a go again as Spurs 😂 Never been them, just signed Thiago Maia and Rafinha.

Finally getting round to doing a save on 17. Playing as Werder Bremen with a 17/18 squad update. Look how ridiculously tight the top half is, 4 games to go hopefully I can get European football.

Safe to say we bottled the last few games and ended up 6th. Considering our media prediction was to finish 15th we have well over-achieved and find ourselves in Europe. Got a pretty decent transfer budget of £14m which was a lot more than I expected. Got quite a few players I can clear out as well.

Anybody ever conceded a goal from a cross in this game? xD

Honestly I swear about 80% of the goals I do concede come from crosses to the near post, really frustrating. Anyway I finished season two with Werder Bremen and got 6th again. We seem to massively lack consistency in the second half of the season, although a very strong run got us 6th place and almost into the Champions League. We got shat on in the Europa, but got to the final of the German Cup only to fall to Bayern 2-1. I have been given a nice healthy transfer budget of £36m though and the squad needs some serious work. May look to sell on some key players like Junuzovic as he is getting on a bit now and maybe I can still get a good bit of value from him.

I get about 3 crosses per game that just get tipped over by the goalkeeper with the "Player X will struggle to claim that he meant that" but I don't think that's necessarily what you're talking about.

Aha I wish I got that. I don't know whether it's because of my narrow formation, but just in general I concede from a lot of crosses.
