There’s some real beauties this weekend with Athletic Bilbao hosting FC Barcelona and Valencia CF travelling to San Sebastián to play Real Sociedad.

But the real biggie is the Madrid Derby which sees Atlético Madrid take on Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Like I said in midweek, it’s not always about results. The same way as you can lose a game because anyone can and it’s more about HOW you lose it which was ridiculous against Leganés due to the terrible performance. Today Barça played well and were very very unlucky not to win. No way did Athletic deserve a draw today and Barça’a second half performance was absolutely sensational with Busquets and Messi coming on.

This is definitely one of those games where you can tale positives from and the fact that this is football and you don’t win them all.

Now wait and see what occurs in the Madrid derby.

Crisis for Barcelona?

Not really... Funnily enough there’s more talk of crisis at Real Madrid with better results than at Barcelona. Two of Barça’s results especially miseeek against Leganés were bad but today is actually a good sign.

Griezmann should have scored there after doing the hard work. Golden opportunity that for me. It's been a good start to the Madrid derby though.

Both teams have had chances but you'd expect that from Real playing at home.  But Atleti have played some real fast incisive combination football up front with Lemar looking really lively on the ball every time he recieves it.

Good first half. Courtois (closing on his legs and putting his hands and head to good use) averted two really great chances of goal for Atlético. Rodri putting a passing clinic. In the other hand it looks like that for this version of Real Madrid, Bale is a vastly more important cog than Benzema.

The signing of Rodri looks to be as big as anything out there that gets all the major media attention.  What a coup!

Rodri is quality, this was always evident at Villarreal but you never know when clubs leave to, or go back to in this case, other clubs.

It seems as though nobody wants to win La Liga this year. It could be a very interesting season indeed. Teams are looking competitive and showing no fear whenever coming up against the big guns.

Sevilla have surprised me also as I was expecting them to struggle this year, but they seem to remain a solid side season in, season out these days. What a start for Andre Silva aswell.

REAL MADRID CF 0-0 ATLÉTICO MADRID (FT)

Very intense game where the quality of football ran out in the second half and it was just surges especially from Real Madrid while Atleti sat back deeper and deeper as the second period drew on.  We all know they feel comfortable defending which is sad these days as they have the quality to really go at anyone as was seen in the first half... All the same, no team deserved to lose as obviously none deserved to win which means a draw was just.

As @The Rebel CRS said... Right now nobody is taking a hold of the table and it's anyone's so far.

The GKs versus Barcelona (mainly messi) are lucky af. 9 games for Messi, 7 shots have hit the post. Hitting the post is normal but recently Messi keeps choking when the pressure is on.

Once versus Sevilla (supercopa) athletic, leganes, and Girona. But yeah, great performance by Messi :ay:

I don't see C.Ronaldo doing much for Juventus, other than pulling player's hair and getting dismissed :coffee:

Messi doesn't need to be a analysed... It's all self evident and not difficult to understand.

Let's just thank the gods that Messi has never been coached by Mourinho. It was almost touch and go once, but the planets aligned themselves to keep nature and her wonderful creations in check. ;)

Gael Kakuta popping up on the highlights for Zaragoza. That's a blast from the past. He was meant to be saviour of French football.

It's interesting to see Madrid and Barcelona both dropping points again even though they both played good opposition. It's add to the intrigue to see how the next month will play out and see some of the other teams up the top will drop off slightly.

Today's results for Sunday...

SD HUESCA 1-1 GIRONA FC

VILLARREAL CF 0-1 REAL VALLADOLID

LEVANTE UD 2-1 DEPORTIVO ALAVÉS

Just to add that Villarreal seem to have serious problems at home... They just can't win at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
