England and Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho has been named Bundesliga Player of the Month for October.

The 18-year-old, who made his first England start in Thursday's 3-0 win over the United States, has been rewarded for his performances during an unbeaten month for Dortmund.

I hope he never comes back to England and spends his whole career abroad.

I'm genuinely really happy to see Sancho succeeding abroad. I think it's the best thing that could've possibly happened to the England national side - the Premier League is an obstacle to youth development so seeing both him and Reiss Nelson going abroad and succeeding for it can only be a positive. I'd like to see it happen more frequently.

Sancho is doing great but nobody gives a fuck about this award.

I think the majority of fans in Germany doesn't even know it exists.

Don't be bitter just because he's English. Like nobody knows that a player of the month award exists. 9_9

Also, it's on FIFA and he has his own POTM card. Therefore making it a big deal to the hundreds of millions of FIFA players worldwide.

Because it's quite new in Germany and nobody really cares about such things.

As I said. He is doing great and certainly deserves it.

Superb youngster, at only 18 looks very exciting. Dortmund probably the best place to be for him. He will get games, they play in the Champions League and he is playing attacking football.

Manchester City have Sancho 'matching right', not buy-back clause – Dortmund

Ryan Benson         15 hrs ago

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc dismissed claims Manchester City have a buy-back option on Jadon Sancho, insisting they only have a "matching right".

Sancho has enjoyed a rapid rise to prominence in the Bundesliga since joining Dortmund in August 2017, with his form this season earning him his first call-up to the senior England team.

City were unable to convince Sancho to sign a new lucrative contract and allowed him to depart in a reported £8million deal, with the winger then going on to make 12 Bundesliga appearances in his first campaign.

Although often used as a substitute this term, Sancho has already featured 11 times in the league and been instrumental – scoring four and setting up six goals – in Dortmund's sensational start to the season, picking up the Bundesliga's Player of the Month award for October.

Reports began to circulate during the latest international break that the Premier League champions had a buy-back option on the 18-year-old, but Zorc has tempered the excitement of City fans, insisting that is not the case.

"Principally we don't make contract details public," Zorc said in a news conference. "But what you mean here is, actually, not really relevant, because it would be at most a matching right.

"That would have no significance at all for us, apart from having to talk with City if an offer came up. But that's very theoretical."

Sancho and Dortmund return to Bundesliga action following the international break on Saturday, as they travel to Mainz looking to extend their four-point lead at the top of the table.

Jadon Sancho scored his seventh goal of the season as Borussia Dortmund reacted to their first Bundesliga loss of 2018-19 to beat Borussia Monchengladbach in their top-of-the-table game.

The 18-year-old England winger received a pass from Mario Gotze and scored a low drive from a tight angle which went in via the post.
