La Liga - Week 16 Fixtures - 14th-17th December 2018

REAL MADRID CF 1-0 RAYO VALLECANO

Now that’s what I call suffering big time to win a game. A goal by Benzema decides the result but boy oh boy should it have been a whole lot different.

It looks like sliding along the grass is a bookable offence these days. Dembélé didn’t even touch the Levante player and got booked.

Great work by Messi with a wonderful assist for Suárez to brilliantly finish into the top corner. Majestic!

LEVANTE UD 0-2 FC BARCELONA (HT)

A very speculative performance for the most part from both sides in that first half. Then Messi took the ball and drew various defenders to him to then deliver a reverse pass for Suárez to volley first time into the top corner. Boateng for Levante had just hit the underside of the crossbar before the Barça goal.  Then more chessboard stuff before Messi took the ball from 40+ yards out and galloped on goal to finish with his supposedly weaker right foot to make it 0-2.

Messi hat-trick after some wonderful skill by Suárez and then fed Vidal who then squared it for an easy tap-in for Messi.

0-4

Just heard a stat...

Leo Messi has either scored or assisted 40% of Barcelona's goals over the past decade! :o

There is no debate.  The media generate it and fools fall for it mate.

Well that can't be true.

He'd have done well to do that while he was out injured.

The Uruguayan Cabaco gets a red for a very late challenge on Dembélé.

Wow... What a miss by Suárez from a wonderful assist by Messi.  He missed without pressure by at least six yards wide.

LEVANTE UD 0-5 FC BARCELONA (FT)

Well, it was great talking to myself here! xD

Barça were simply clinical because other than Messi's astronomical performance, it wasn't a vintage performance for Barcelona even if the scoreline tells a different story.

The game is a tale about how Messi is... Well... Messi, because there's no comparison.

The acceleration by Messi for his 1st was rolling back the years, as if he was 21 again.

On fire at the moment. With him in this form, sky is the limit this season. It's about keeping him fit, and of course, others stepping up as well.

The team are certainly improving as a whole and it'll be interesting to see just how it all comes together after the crimbo break, as that is when everything is truly decided.
