nudge Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 I didn't even know it was happening! Currently in pre-production so will definitely take a while. Michael Gandolfini, the son of the late James Gandolfini, will play the role of the young Tony Soprano. He joins Alessandro Nivola, Vera Farmiga, Jon Bernthal, Billy Magnussen and Corey Stoll in the ensemble drama that is set in the era of the ’60s Newark riots, when African Americans and Italians of that city were at each others throats. It was especially lethal among gangsters from each group. The story focuses on Dickie Moltisanti (Nivola), a mentor to young Tony as his own father, Johnny Boy, was grooming his son on a pathway to organized crime prominence. There are expected to be call-backs and shout-outs to numerous other series characters in the film, which is set in the earlier time period. https://deadline.com/2019/01/the-sopranos-prequel-movie-michael-gandolfini-tony-soprano-james-gandolfini-the-many-saints-of-newark-james-gandolfini-david-chase-1202539160/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8110232/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8110232/videoplayer/vi1468185113

Harry Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 Yeah. Wow Bluewolf. Sopranos and the west wing are (for me) the point where this current golden age of TV really first started to kick off
AMG Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 Saints of Newark??? The only saints I know of are Saints of Southampton.

I started watching it and watched 1 episode. It's the next show i'm going to get into. Before Peaky Blinders and GoT come back on our screens. Michael Gandolfini playing his Dad's character is a special one. If what i've read is true, he was the one who found his Dad after he'd had heart attack.
Subscriber Viva la FCB+ Posted January 30, 2019 Subscriber Posted January 30, 2019 Sopranos set the bar when it came to quality tv, Ive been meaning to go back and watch it from the begining again. Im definitely in on this.

You missed out. Up until the likes of Power, Breaking Bad, Prison break(well the first 3 series) and Sons of Anarchy came about, it was my favourite series ever(the Wire being another good one), although it's hard to say now as there are so many top series out these days. It's the opposite with films though. 11 hours ago, JOSHBRFC said: I started watching it and watched 1 episode. It's the next show i'm going to get into. It's not that it was particularly bad, but it just didn't do anything for me. Some characters felt like caricatures and borderline parody (looking at you, Silvio), some pointless storylines. Overall, a very mediocre and forgettable movie. I re-watched Donnie Brasco afterwards

I dont even care about the storyline I just loved the call backs and character connections. Maybe im a sucker but I ate this shit up. I loved Silvio! the walk, the way he carried himself ah man. I get it, as a standalone movie it really isnt great but thats not what I wanted out of it. Junior was awesome and that ending! Chefs kiss!
