I have found some series/movies about endurance racing. One call Le Mans: Racing is Everything, Le Mans, and another called Steve McQueen... Now I have a lot to watch as well. Life is fantastic.1 point

He did everything! Like most of the racing drivers back then, but he's one of the few to win it all - including endurance races like Le Mans, Daytona 24, Indy 500.1 point

Yep 1000 miles on open public roads in Italy, no barriers, no control. Legendary.1 point

As in, all time? Stefan Belloff. Hans-Joachim Stuck. Timo Bernhard. Alex Wurz. Kevin Estre. For an American legend outside of Andretti family, check out A.J. Foyt!1 point

I love reading this. So happy to see other people fall in love with motor racing, and especially when they go deeper than just the flashy stuff like F1. When you're finished with those Porsche videos, you HAVE to read about and watch docus on Mille Miglia, Targa Florio and Carrera Panamericana. It's the stuff that legends are made of! The beginning of it all, and it captured the spirit of endurance racing so well.1 point

I feel like my love of Motorsports is so similar to my love of Football. Football, or soccer, being a sport that isn't popular here, but was brought to my attention thanks to the '94 World Cup and my Dad getting into to, and from then on out, I kept watching the World Cup...Years later I got introduced into European club football, and my life was changed. I feel in love and find club football so much better than World Cup, even though the popularity isn't there (at least here). Grew up with Nascar, yawn, and a few years ago got introduced to F1, and now I'm finding out about endurance races and again, I feel like my sports life will never be the same. This is absolutely brilliant.1 point

@nudge - What would you do if you could drive, or ride, in the Porsche 356 SL? Just watched Episode 1, and that got me excited about these 24h races, and also, can't believe the stories of them driving the race car to Le Mans, racing, and then driving it home. That is absolutely class.1 point

Ha, as the old cliche goes - to finish first, you first have to finish...1 point

Yeah missed #22, but that's good. I want to drive a 911 right now after watching that.1 point

Nighttime driving at this speed just has to be magical. So dark and ominous...1 point

Crazy how quickly it got dark. Just 15 minutes ago there was plenty of light, now it's pitch black.1 point

Oh it's not the same system as F1! There's no elimination here. Basically, each driver of each team gets one quali session to put in as many laps as possible (that's why they have four sessions, with 4-driver teams taking part in Q1 only, and then all teams in remaining sessions). The final qualifying time for the team is the average of the fastest laps set by each driver in their respective session.1 point

This driver camera is pretty incredible, just shows how close they get to the limits, other cars, and just how close they come to absolutely losing control of the car.1 point

By the way, @Eco - Porsche recently started publishing nice video series on their youtube channel about their Le Mans history. Each episode features one legendary Porsche racing car and its drivers and engineers, presented by Timo Bernhard. 4 episodes already out, 2 more to be released. A great format, and perfect for any Porsche fan.1 point

Spa usually delivers in this aspect Hopefully, not too much of rain though, as I don't want to see it red-flagged prematurely again 2016 was just plain crazy. Watch this short video:1 point

Alright let's go then. #21 for the win. Drivers are a German, Austrian, and French which are 3 absolutely lovely countries, and they drive a Porsche.1 point

The asterisks indicate that the team takes part in the full season of Intercontinental GT Challenge, the rest are there just for this race only. As for number of drivers, there are different regulations for different classes within the race. Important - the classes are defined solely by driver categorisation while the cars are equal in terms of capability. Pro teams are allowed 3 drivers (no additional rules on categorisation), Silver teams are allowed up to 4 drivers (all Silver), in Pro-Am you can have a maximum of 2 Platinum and 2 Bronze drivers, and finally in Am you're allowed 4 drivers, with a maximum of 1 Silver driver - so either 4 Bronze, or 3 Bronze + 1 Silver. My favourite Pro driver is Kevin Estre, so I'll be rooting for car #21 (Rutronik Racing) to get the overall win. In Pro-Am, I'm always cheering for Herberth Motorsport (car #911) as I got to meet the Renauer brothers a long time ago, love the familial atmosphere in the team and have been following them ever since.1 point

Yeah - one of the experiences is 4 hours of driving in different Porsches, so I may just do that this weekend and get to experience it since I've never driven a Porsche before.1 point
-
Yeah this weekend is going to be clogged with things to watch again... Football, F1, F3, Spa 24h... I use this to keep up, mostly: https://raceday.watch/ It even converts it to your local time automatically.1 point

Also, might be doing this this weekend, as this on my list of things to do before I die, and imagine you'd also absolutely love it @nudge https://www.porschedriving.com/atlanta/driving1 point

Panna King has now officially retired from the forum, I have quit following football due to the way it is going and will concentrate on MMA as its a sport I am also participating in. It was good on here over the years and wish you all the best for the future.0 points
