There is no trap, that’s what mass media has been since it was industrialised in the mid-19th century. Reporting has never been important, sales and narrative control is the goal. He is just lamenting media being what it is, while being on said media. The only people watching are going to keep watching MSNBC/Fox/whatever. That’s why it’s pointless, whether is he right or not, and he is right about certain things, but not entirely. The media is fucked and biased but it’s not a revelation, it’s the nature of the beast and calling them out like this accomplishes nothing. The point isn’t facf or lie, it is narrative presentation. This is also paradoxically beneficial for MSNBC because despite him calling them out, he is employed by them and allowing him to say creates a narrative of reliability, integrity, and credibility to MSNBC and their journalists by proxy, and engages with sentiments held by MSNBC viewers. It’s the same bullshit I see on ABC with Media Watch. The sentiment would hold more water on an independent platform.
