  1. Stuff like that is apocalypse territory. There always needs to be some input from a human being when it comes to taking out a target or threat, even if the AI does all the aiming and calculations and just leaves the human to press the ok button.
  2. The tweet is classic Peoples Group who I'm not arsed about but the letter being posted is bang on.
  3. I hope when Conte inevitably leaves that he's still remembered for the positive side of his time at Chelsea. I can't remember seeing anything quite like what happened last season with a bold formation change like the wing back formation he used turned a clubs season around and saw them romp to a title like that. Doesn't seem like a cunt either aside from the usual moaning about referees that comes from other top managers.
  4. Away in Madeira for a week. Will make sure I get a snap of the Ronaldo statue on my way home for the members pictures thread. First time abroad in almost three years so enjoying the opportunity to get at least a bit of a tan back.
  5. https://www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11095/11316202/psv-technical-director-marcel-brands-to-join-everton?__twitter_impression=true Marcel Brands on his way to Everton, surely to replace Steve Walsh. This means that the Fabra link that was posted yesterday is more likely to have some truth to it as Brands has a reputation for bringing South Americans to PSV. If this is all true it gives me faith that the new regime will be in place sooner rather than later, sans Big Sam, Little Sam and Shakespeare.
  6. Steven Pienaar returns to Everton in the role of International Ambassador
  7. I don't really care about the grid girls as so many races are on at 5am in Britain these days that I don't wake up early enough to appreciate them. The halo is bad but also not that noticeable when it comes to the quality of racing. Other issues discussed are much more relevant to the racing which is what I want to see from F1.
  8. Do you remember when he suggested introducing sprinklers on the side of the tracks to come on at random and create a wet race? And the medals system that almost made it through the door. He started it (because he's totally business-driven not because he didn't understand the sport).
  9. Hope that doesn't come to fruition. F1 needs to be a different sport to the feeder series where entertainment is more important than fair competition. Going down the route of reverse grids and qualifying races reduces the value of the Grand Prix and takes away from Formula 1 as a sport. I have to say it's bothered me for years how much F1 management have started to try and pander to the casual fan to get viewership up with stuff like DRS. There needs to be some valuation of tradition and why F1 always had a big enough following in the first place from the people who enjoyed it for the pure motorsport it was and the organic drama it produced between the world's best racing drivers. However I'm resigned that the sport will move away from naturally occurring drama towards gimmicky manufactured drama with stuff like double points at the last race, reverse grids etc. to pull people with no attention span in from the smart phone generation.

    Boxing

Have to agree. I watch boxing in the Olympics as it may lack the top athletes and therefore the quality but without all the shite it's actually an enjoyable sport I can appreciate. All the shit talking and squaring up at weigh ins and stuff is embarrassing really. Odd that not many people take the piss out of grown men pretending to act like hormonal 13 year olds trying to act hard in front of their mates in the playground for the benefit of the press looking for footage for their previews. How much stick do footballers get for play acting like that? Also is there any reason fight organisers and managers and stuff don't seem to get much flack for taking millions of pounds from a sport when they offer next to no expertise to it, like agents do in football?
  11. Sepang has to be one of the best tracks in the world for bikes. Along with Suzuka.
  12. Worrying that I had to pause for a second to decide whether those are real quotes .
  13. Leclerc had an amazing record in F2 last season. On a par with Hamilton. Hopefully he turns out more like Lewis than like Nelson Piquet Jr.
  14. You can't put Melbourne in the same bracket as those other tracks? Turn 1, turn 3 and the corner after the high speed chicane are all better overtaking opportunities than anywhere at those other three circuits apart from perhaps Barcelona turn 1 and Singapore turn 7. Baku, Shanghai, even Spa and Monza have straights where you generally see one car cruise past another with DRS which I don't personally class as overtaking, just one car driving past another. COTA has one long straight like that but generally is one of the new circuits that makes for some decent wheel to wheel action. If you look through the archives at Melbourne you'll find a lot more "classic" races than you would at most other venues that have been around a similar amount of time such as Hungaroring, Barcelona, Kuala Lumpur. Granted many of these are due to the nature of the first race of the season being more susceptible to drama and people making mistakes.
  15. I'd say it's pretty average for most tracks, a few decent places you can usually do it.
  16. Bottas took his time getting through the field in what was the fastest car. Goes to show how difficult it is to overtake these days as cars get more grippy and the amount of wiggle room in each braking zone continues to shrink. The feeling of Hamilton chasing down Vettel when he was clearly faster but knowing that he couldn't overtake unless Vettel made a significant mistake reminded me of Monaco. We've had dull opening races though in previous seasons which have been followed up by classics. Today was pretty boring but I'm not ready to make the sweeping statements many people like to start making about the state of the sport these days.
  17. Bad race, they still have a lot of work to do with these cars if they want to see good wheel to wheel racing. Take nothing away from Seb but that's one of the luckiest possible ways to win a Grand Prix these days.
  18. Bottas will still easily recover to 6th if not higher. Shame for him today but people on Twitter trying to sound clever and saying "this incident might be decisive in the decision Mercedes make about their drivers at the end of the season" need to pipe down.
  19. @Blue First time I think anyone's acknowledged my existence in this thread .
  20. Forgot that Vermaelen still exists .
