  1. Brilliant info, I appreciate that. I'm not sure if we would go to see the classical music although I goggled Saint-Chapelle and it does look spectacular. I think we'd be more inclined to go to the Moulin Rouge, purely for the experience. The Jardin du Luxembourg looks amazing. I quite like the idea of us hiring bikes and going round that as well as other stops. That way we would incorporate a picnic too.
  2. Well it would be a Friday to Monday. Probably get an early flight Friday to make the most of the day and have two full days before coming back the Monday. Cheers for the feedback, it's really useful. I can definitely work with that in terms of planning what to do. These days, most cities are covered by an efficient metro service so more than happy to use this to get around Paris. Is there any preferential area's to base yourself? Like, what region would be best to stay in? Near the Eiffel Tower, on the Champs Elysee or maybe somewhere else?
  3. Been planning for next year this weekend. My GF wanted to learn a new language so I enrolled her on an adult evening class learning French. It ends in March and our two year anniversary is during this month so seems appropriate to take her to Paris. Neither of us have ever been. Any tips on location and where best to stay? I'm also researching New York for December 2018. Again, any tips on where best to stay would be appreciated. Managed to cross off a lot of the major cities to visit over the past few years so doing these two will make me quite content.

  6. Amazing how a football loving country like ourselves have fell out of love with our national side really. It shouldn't be as bad as this, especially as we've always taken pride in being patriotic and getting behind our national sides in all forms of Sport. There are several things that need to be looked at from the set up side, from who controls the England team, to lower level clubs and their youth acadamies to even scouting at grass roots level. I would question things like is it time the Premier League controlled our national team rather than the FA? Shouldn't we provide more incentive for lower league sides to develop youth and not just as a conveyor belt for a bigger club to cast the net out to 20 lower division prospects just to reject 19 of them? Should scouts focus less on the size of a kid as opposed to what skill he possesses? Do we look to create a quota where we cap how many foreigners can be selected by clubs to encourage more English players appearing at the top level? All various arguments I've seen in the past. I know it's a small thing but I'd tell you the first thing I'd do that wouldn't be radical but would at least try to get the fans back onside. I'd stop playing games at Wembley. Probably doesn't mean much to some but we should go back to having the national team 'tour' their games across the country so that every region of fan has a chance to go and watch the side. I think it's unfair to constantly have all our home games at Wembley, especially as it does it's best to alienate northern fans. Not to mention that the atmosphere is absolutely shocking, especially when a Slovenia or Lithuania come to town. This country is blessed with brilliant stadia and passionate fans, let's play our games all the way from as far as St James Park to as low as St Marys Stadium. If England are playing at a ground close to fans that don't get to see England much for whatever reason, they will clamour to go particularly as it's a 'one off' which will raise the atmosphere and help generate a better team performance. It seemed to work quite well in the Sven Goran Eriksson days when you think of games like against Turkey at Sunderland, Greece at Old Trafford, Finland at Anfield etc.
  7. Seen some absolute gash films recently that they barely deserve a review, let alone a mention. Baywatch - A mish mash of pure trash. 47 Meters down - Screamed straight to DVD. Aids. All Eyez on Me - Thought this might be interesting seeing as it's about Tupac Shakur but no, it dragged. Steaming turd. The Wall - Drawn out, heavily predictable yawn fest. Really on a bad run at the moment. I've got the new Pirates of the Caribbean and Transformers to watch so really unsure if it's going to get better or worse right now.
  8. Fair do's, it's better to always wait till the ground is complete anyway to judge so will reserve my thoughts. I just would have liked to see Brentford build a stadium they could grow into and not grow out of which I fear they could do here. That said, if they would struggle to fill a 20k stadium then it's better to have it 80/90% full than 60%.
  9. I don't like it to be honest. Think it looks horrendous, like something you would make out of junk modelling at school. But equally, it's refreshing to see something that isn't a bowl. Just a question on the capacity. Griffin Park holds 12,300. This new ground will hold 17,200. An increase of roughly 4,000. What is the point? Seems a bit daft to me...
  10. Been watching Rellik on BBC One. Interesting concept of telling a serial killer thriller but backwards so from the end to the beginning. Different for sure, a little confusing at times but actually quite intriguing and very clever. Already the plot is hinting at whether the 'right' person was justifiably killed.
  11. Currently looking to buy. I have had bids for two houses unsuccessful so far. The first one I was proper gazumped. The other party interested had a 70% deposit ready to put down which blew me out the water. Bid wise, I don't think we were miles away from the asking price so I was close. The other one I bid for wasn't long after the first bid for the other house, and whilst I liked it, I don't think I was in love with it as much as the first one. So when I was told for a third time that someone else had bid higher than me on this house, I pulled out. There get's to a point the house just isn't worth the price it's going for, especially if you don't want it enough. Since then I kind of licked my wounds a bit and stopped looking for a while but in the past few months I've gone back to actively searching. Just ridiculous though when you look at what you can get in say Leeds/Sheffield for the same price as Southampton. I'd have no problem buying something nice up North but my commitments are all down here.
  12. Went to Lisbon on Friday for a Stag weekend. Cracking city. Went to the Benfica game Friday night. Have to say @Machado, lovely stadium and a half decent game too. Locals were spot on. You have great fans.
  13. Pierre Michel Lasogga has joined us on a season long loan today. Is he as gash as his stats suggest or have we got a decent player in our ranks?
  14. Brilliant, cheers for that. Will be all over that now.
  15. @Machado Going on a Stag weekend to Lisbon next week and was interested in going to the game v Portimonense. It says the game is currently scheduled to be played 4pm on the Sunday. When do they confirm the actual date and kick off time though? Looks like Benfica have CSKA Moscow on the Tuesday in the Champions League so I'm assuming they may push back the game a day to Saturday?
  16. Road to Perdition My other half hadn't seen this so we put it on Saturday night. Brilliant film. Somber, stately, and beautifully mounted, much in the vain of American Beauty. Brilliant cast, stunning cinematography and a gripping insight into fatherhood amidst the chaos of the mob. Never get bored of watching this. 9/10
  17. Watching Soprano's right now. I'm on Season 2, about the 10th episode. I've been promised truly great things and I keep churning out the episodes but it hasn't 'got me' yet to the point I'm literally looking forward to watching the next episode. Going to start Narcos Season 3 when it's released on Friday.
  18. Did a stag there last August. Very nice. Bernabeu tour was really good. I have a stag do in Lisbon next weekend, looking forward to that. Never been to Portugal.
  19. We all wanted a really big death to 'shock' the audience, much like what we had with Ned, Robb, Joffrey etc. But was Littlefinger really big enough? Maybe it was too obvious we'd lose him. Perhaps it would have been better to go left field and take someone we never saw coming.
  20. I thought Jaime was a goner when Cersei 'sort of' acknowledged The Mountain. He's a lucky boy. Definitely going to hook up with Brianne now. I really hope Tyrion doesn't turn. What with the way he was looking at Dany and Jon when they hooked up along with his meeting with Cersei where we don't know what was actually said after he acknowledged she was pregnant, I hope he's not going to become a mole and stab Jon/Dany in the back as 'repayment' for taking the blame of tearing apart the Lannister family that Cersei accused him of doing so. I really don't trust Bran. I don't know what it is but I just can't help but feel he'd tip people off more if he could see what was going. Like when he was watching the dead army tear down and march through the wall. Is he communicating with them in some way to lead them there? Is he actually in some way controlling The Night King or even is him? Where was Gendry? He was recovering at The Wall last episode after making it back alive but he was nowhere to be seen this episode? Not exactly the place you wanna be recovering... And there's no way Thormand and Sir Beric can die 'off screen' like that. I'm not buying it. They are alive.
  21. https://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/tv-radio/843447/Game-of-Thrones-season-8-when-will-it-air-Nikolaj-Coster-Waldau-Jaime-Lannister-spoiler Pretty confident he'll survive but he could have purposely said that and given the fans a massive curve ball. I hope Jaime doesn't die anyway. Personally would love this series to end with him being provoked into killing Cersei. That would be a great shock given how devoted he has been to her. Maybe she could be lying about the pregnancy and he finds out, or she does something like get the mountain to kill Brianne that makes him tip over the edge.
  22. Pretty sure I read something about the actor who plays Jaime saying that normally they are given their scripts for the whole series in advance, 4 weeks before filming but this time its been more hush hush that they only have up to a first few episodes. Obviously would assume he makes it to Series 8.
  23. The only thing I'd say is that the impact of the dragons was so much more intense in Episode 4 because it was unexpected that 2 episodes later, I was less in awe at the impact of them. Still a great scene though if you enjoy it for what it is. I badly want one of those 'shocking' deaths that we've become accustomed to in seasons past. I really feel like we need that in the finale. Something that we just don't see coming.
