I fear that we'll see at least two, probably three washouts in this round. Van Der Sar vs Neuer could be interesting but we may have to wait until the semi finals to see the real fireworks kick off.

Schmeichel, Buffon, Casillas, Neuer for me.

Schmeichel, Buffon, Casillas, Neuer

I didn't vote Schmeichel last time due to the time he played in, but I'm going to just forget that now and pick who I rate the most, regardless or whether they were at their best in this century or not.

No way Van Der Sar should be that close.

It we're talking about the best gk of the last 30 years, Buffon and Khan are in the conversation and are probably favourites, but in the last 15 years or so, two goalies stand out - Casillas and Neuer.

Casillas mainly for his captaincy of sides that won so many major titles (every title there is to be won really) for both club and country, and actually playing an important role in those sides. He was consistently great for more than a decade until a slight decline 6 years ago or something.

As for Neuer, let's not forget how the man revolutionized goalkeeping. Undoubtedly the face of the modern goalkeeper. The sweeper keeper style set the bar for upcoming talents who are now expected to not just be good, but Neuer-good if they aim to play in the biggest clubs in the world. Leaving the box and making a body save, a clearance in the side line or something more gutsy like a dribble in the midfield is still called "doing a Neuer" for good reason. He's insane between the posts too. Not inferior to any of the others mentioned in any way then, and does stuff that all others lack the technical ability to match.

16 votes this time, let's keep pushing for more.

I didn't think we'd get too many unanimous votes in this 'tournament' but Iker Casillas and Gianluigi Buffon have both achieved that here. They are joined in the semi-finals by Peter Schmeichel and Manuel Neuer.
