Barcelona very nearly went out, Real had it really tough, then Atlético actually went out.

This is why changing it from 2 legs to 1 was a good idea. It's made it more appealing and open to shocks.

Even with 2 legs we saw shocks, I mean Real themselves have been eliminated by Real Union and Alcorcón over the last 10 or so years. But it's open to even more shocks now that you have no second leg to make a comeback in.

It means less games over the season aswell.

Barcelona 5-0 Leganes. It could have been a lot more to be fair and it must have been something like 85%-15% possession. You can certainly see what Quique wants from his team, it's about them now adjusting to what he's asking.

His style of play naturally suits these players, but after being used to playing and training in a different manner for a while, they need to get used to it.

There is a lot to do yet, but I think you could see positive signs tonight. Semedo also has to play at right back and Lenglet has to start also, as he's clearly the club's best defender these days. He's not been as good this season as last, but under a new manager, it's a fresh start for literally every player. In saying that Barcelona's home form has actually been near perfect and the biggest downfall is actually the performances in away fixtures.  This is what needs to be improved on the most.,

Mirandes 2-0 up against Sevilla, another potential shock.

I knew Mirandes would win that one. They are always wanting to cause a scene!

Fair play to them. Lower league Spanish clubs certainly have the heart as none of them have been easy pickings for any side thus far.

It also took Athletic to beat Tenerife on pens after a 3-3 thriller. It's been a great copa and while I believe that quality is down in Spain right now, the actual games still produce plenty of excitement.

Barcelona are going out this round I think. You'd fancy Athletic playing at San Mames in a 1 game tie in the Copa del Rey against anyone. They love this competition.

I also think Mirandés wiñl beat Villarreal at home aswell.

Real Madrid should beat Real Sociedad at home and the other game is anyone's.

Mirandes could realistically get through that and it would be a wonderful achievement for them.

If you remember, they reached the semi finals a few years ago and not so long before that, the quarters, so they must be doing something right.

The true definition of a "giant killer". Got to love them.

Martin Odegaard scores for Real Sociedad! Real Madrid 0-1 Real Sociedad!

James Rodriquez is starting for Real Madrid against Real Sociedad today. While Modric, Varane, Isco, Mendy, Rodrygo, Jovic and Courtois are all on the bench. Brahim Diaz is also starting for Real Madrid. Real Madrid do have a lot of strength in depth, but I don't think they are playing the type of starting lineup that they would usually play in the Champions League or in a key La Liga match.

Real Sociedad are up a goal at half-time, but really it was mainly all Real Madrid in that first half. Sociedad had some chances of their own, but it was Madrid who were the ones controlling possession and creating more dangerous chances.

Can Sociedad survive the expected Real Madrid destructive attack in the second half? We shall wait and see.

Isak puts the ball in the back of the net for Sociedad and he thought he had scored Sociedad's 2nd goal, but his goal is disallowed after VAR is viewed. So Sociedad are still only the one goal up, but a bit of a let off there for Real Madrid.
