Max Meyer Signs for Köln

After the shabby and disgraceful treatment of Max Meyer, Roy Hodgson has finally let it be known that he wants rid of the high wage that Max is being paid - not Max's fault, but Hodgson refuses to accept that Meyer is still the best mid-field architect he has on his books.  Now that those responsible for his problem in Germany have left S04 the club should try and get him back home - his departure on a free transfer was not his fault and those who engineered it are there no more, but both Cologne and Wolfsburg are making noises that he would be welcome at both clubs.  Schalke are woeful in mid-field, the best partnership they had for years - Meyer and Goretzka - was manipulated away for nothing, but they have a chance to get one of the pair back.  With a new coach who has already made important changes and had the first win in ages now in charge, this would be the right time to strengthen the support the young players like Harit, Hoppe and Kutucu need to go forward.  With his old school-mate, Sead, already back in the fold, the time is right for such a move.  Hodgson has never forgiven 04 for what happened in Milan - perhaps Max has suffered from that approach which the old man has allowed to stall his career.  The Palace nightmare is almost over!  I know I am biased having known young Max since his Year 10 in school, but look at his past record and compare that with the other guys at Selhurst Park - no contest really and Hodgson needs to take a long look in the mirror!

Surely only a key player role in one of Europe's top clubs would be an option worth considering for a world-class player like that!
