ScoRoss Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 Held at Belfast's Windsor Park. I imagine it'll be a very Chelsea heavy crowd. For all of UEFA's terrible ideas recently, I think having the Super Cup final played in these smaller countries has been a pretty good success so far.
Waylander Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 When I used to go there was a group of CFC fans that used to sing, 'No surrender', I'm hoping them or their ilk do not influence proceedings.
Cicero Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 Not sure if Zouma will be involved given the Kounde rumors, but expecting this to be the team. Would be great to win this. Mendy Dave----Christensen---Rudiger CHO-------Kante----Kovacic----Alonso Ziyech-------Werner Havertz
Administrator Stan Posted August 10, 2021 Administrator Posted August 10, 2021 I'm not usually one for wishing injury on players but if someone could snap Fer Nino's legs in half that'd be grand.

Cicero Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 Chelsea’s XI vs Villarreal - Mendy, Zouma, Chalobah, Rudiger, Odoi, Kovacic, Kante, Alonso, Ziyech, Havertz, Werner
Bluewolf Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 Interesting subbing Mendy for Kepa just for the penalties...
carefreeluke Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 The last two games we've played in the Super Cup I thought we played well and edged it performance wise against Bayern and Liverpool but in both games we lost on penalties. Tonight, I thought Villarreal were probably the better team but this time we got over the line, nice to have some joy on penalties after the summer.
DNA Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 I’ve seen Mendy’s technique for trying to save penalties, no surprises what happened with them tonight, you’d rather have anyone but him. Saw the highlights and was puzzled as to why the commentators hadn’t cracked on to this, obvious move really.
Waylander Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 Enjoyed that though the performance was up and down. We were playing a lot of the 'B' team and Villa Real had more games under their belt. Both sides could have scored more goals yet keepers played well. Tommy T made sensible subs and Kepa came up trumps for the penalties. On the downside, shame about Ziyech who was starting to show some decent form. On the plus, Lukaku to start soon and......... What a great way to kick the season off!
