Russia says it quit UN Human Rights Council other say they were kicked out.

Gradually Russia will be left out of most things including UN Security Council eventually ending the whole post-war world order. Which might be what Russia China want !?

I suspect they think they are too US centric.

What with Orban winning in Hungary and Vucic winning in Serbia the Chinese in Europes desire for anti-Russian sactions are going to be challenged.

With all due respect to those countries, nobody cares about Hungary and Serbia in the grand scheme of things.

There's a very real possibility of Le Pen winning the French election though as she increasingly appears to be squeezing support from Zemmour. That would be quite a shift in European politics.

Hungary is a wheat exporter and with Ukraine another wheat exporter falling under Russian control think this is a little more significant.

In related news, Finland has suggested it will look to join NATO. Russia has previously stated that either Sweden or Finland joining NATO would be seen as hostile acts.

Finland shares an 800+mile border with Finland. The Finnish politicians have said they have been influenced by what has happened in Ukraine.

Nothing from the Russian as yet.

Have a day off Boris. Just talks utter nonsense 💤

I'm amazed Johnson took the personal  risk of going there, is he trying to outdo Thatcher with Gorbachev in the 80's or is it just to deflect from inflationary costs here in the UK?

Ukraine leader doesn't wanna listen to a thing he says. He just wants our help and that's it. Looks at Boris like he's a fool 😂 and he got it spot on

I was reading on this the other day about 26m in Shanghai locked down because of virus concerns and some were shouting through the windows in protest only for drones to arrive threatening them back inside.

Now the BBC link here does not say that about protest though does confirm major lockdowns and that food delivery firms cannot keep up demand

Just a publicity stunt really. There's nothing you need to discuss in person you can't do on the phone. It's a worthwhile one at least for the message it sends out. And who knows, maybe he even did it for that reason as well as his own photo opportunity.

Fair points.

Last bit on the Johnson thing. You don't see him doing walkabouts like that in the UK. His standing with the British public is such that it's safer for him to walk around war-torn Kyiv than his own country. xD

Neither could Blair even years after he stepped down, I recall as he was going to do a book signing or something it went all around the net and the authorities feared for his life and so it was cancelled.

I don't think many people have a kind word to say about Blair apart from those who were very much in his inner circle like Alistair Campbell. You could see that from the reaction to his knighthood.

Putin has appointed the guy in charge of Syria in Ukraine. The destruction in Syria is astronomical (not just by Russia though) so this isn't good.

The destruction in Syria is not just down to Russia but... Russia is responsible for a lot of the destruction there. The total war style tactics used in Syria were brutal, even compared to normal modern warfare which is inherently brutal.

The longer this war goes on, the more dark it will get. Russia's shown domestically in Chechnya and abroad in Syria that they don't care if they have to completely destroy cities in order to achieve their military goals.

The Azov Regiment defending Mariupol are now saying Russia's used chemical weapons. It's hard to really believe that as the Azov Regiment are, unfortunately, neo-Nazi dickheads and they're making this claim of a red line being crossed while there are no reporters left in the besieged city to verify the claims. So that could just be a group of unscrupulous Nazis trying to pull NATO into the war.

But it's definitely concerning that the man in charge of Syria is now in charge of Ukraine. He does not give a shit about civilian deaths, collateral damage, or war crimes.
