You sound like Rodgers next season will be our 9th year up and it would be deemed a big surprise if we dropped. Us, Palace and Southampton can't be called yo-yo at this point. You haven't been watching football as long as I have, to me Leicester have been up and down a few times since 1961 when I started with Spurs winning the double. Strictly speaking, like Norwich they're not but it wouldn't surprise me to see a relegation scrap soon. Palace and Saints are regularly down after just a short time in the PL. I think they'll spend heavily this summer. They regularly inflated the market for Premier League clubs with top half & survival aspirations by always being the first to pay an over inflated fee for the likes of Benik Afobe, Dom Solanke and Jordan Ibe. They took a huge gamble in January too on the future of the club which has ultimately paid off. Nothing that has happened suggests to me the owners have learned any lessons and they'll spend big to survive Everton you imagine will offload Richarlison to create FFP wiggle room, Southampton under these new owners will be an unknown entity, Burnley seem to be going backwards under these owners, there's rumours of a big falling out at Wolves who play poor football and we could get raided this summer. It could be a poor bottom half next season.

Historically we are very much yo-yo but you only have to see the borderline meltdown our fans are in at the fact we'll probably finish 12th. I think we're a way off being a relegation candidate. If we went down next season it'd be a shock I think.
Chickasaw
Leicester have only ever spent one season outside of the top two divisions in England. The club has been relegated 12 times in total, with three of these being in the Premier League era. Their first Premier League relegation came under Mark McGhee’s stewardship, while the two that followed were overseen by Micky Ada A bit yo yo for me Dan. Dave
Leicester City would have to weaken significantly and have a substantial injury crisis to be in a relegation battle next season in my opinion. They still have on paper a top eight team.

I think it's the worst we've played in years. Yet there's still a decent chance we finish in the top half. I think we're a way off being a serious relegation candidate. Do you think we'll go down in the next 3 years? I'd be very surprised personally.
Administrator Stan Posted May 10, 2022 Administrator Share Posted May 10, 2022 A yo yo team is one that regularly goes up and down each season, or thereabouts. Fulham, Norwich, West Brom are good examples. Leicester are not a yo-yo team in any sense. Neither is every side from 7-8th below classed as 'relegation fodder'. Very ignorant attitude to have. Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted May 10, 2022 Subscriber Share Posted May 10, 2022 There may be some definition of yoyo team that Leicester fit into but whatever it is, they still pail in comparison to Norwich, Watford, West Brom, Fulham.

I'm only going on the experience of 61 years and, as I posted Leicester have been relegated 12 times, 3 times in the PL era.
Dave
They were a yoyo side for a bit when they had Micky Adams in charge. That wad so long ago though I think that's the first time Micky Adams has been mentioned on this forum.

We've been in the PL for 9 successive seasons. Ergo, not a yo-yo club any more.

Everton's problems are more bad money locked into bad contracts, while Leicester will face a difficult summer, they should recoup a lot of money from Tieleman's, Perez, Maddison to rebuld a younger core
Claret and Blue
Everton gonna be safe once they demolish Watford reserves tonight. Down to us and leeds now. Wouldn't be overly surprised if leeds got something from Chelsea. We played total shit against villa. Most of our players looked like they didn't give a fk. Can't see us getting another point From spurs away Villa away Newcastle home

In fact I'm quite confident Maddison stays. Perez should go. Not been of much use to us apart from the odd good performance. Soyuncu will be another that leaves which we could get a reasonable amount for. He and Tielemans are pretty much certain to go really.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted May 11, 2022 Subscriber Share Posted May 11, 2022 Last thing on the yoyo club debate but I don't think anyone's pointed out that Leicester have won the Premier League more recently than been in the Championship. I get it over a longer period of time but... yeah. 9 minutes ago, Claret and Blue said: Everton gonna be safe once they demolish Watford reserves tonight. Hopefully. Seeing that Watford team news doing the round yesterday just gives me the shits to be honest though because it would be very Everton to beat Chelsea and Leicester and then plunge ourselves back into the mess by not doing the business against an injury-ravaged, already relegated side who have lost at home to Leeds and Burnley in the last few weeks. Claret and Blue
Wasn't even that surprised that you went Leicester and won despite your shit away record they've been turd all season with the injuries Rodgers surely under pressure. Every club gets injuries I said last season we was lucky to stop up and fully expected us to struggle this time Just hope we manage to survive. Fair play to lampard and the Everton team they've got the points when needed. Won't be any problems at Watford tonight
Subscriber Dan+ Posted May 11, 2022 Subscriber Share Posted May 11, 2022 Since coming up we've finished 14th, 1st, 12th, 9th, 9th, 5th, 5th and then this season. I think we've moved beyond a yoyo now personally. Always aware that this could look silly in a few years but we've spent more years pushing Champions League places than fighting relegation. On the flip side as well before 2014 we'd spent 10 years out of the top flight so I think it would've been generous to call us yoyo then

Hard to know though, their recruitment may pick up a bit under these new owners. They've been gutted a while by their previous. Their new director of football was one of our previous Co-DoF’s who essentially oversaw our rise from the Championship to the Premier League alongside current Director of Football Phil Giles. I think Southampton are going to have an upturn in fortunes over the next few years personally.
